Hanging out with family toady and I jumped into the pool, and I swam around for about 2 minutes. Then I realized my phone was in my pocket so I jumped out and tried to turn it on (Don't do this because trying to can short it out worse).
I went inside and set it in a bag of rice. After that I stormed around the house for about 10 mintues then decided to try and see if the battery was good by putting it in my mom's phone, we both have the same phone. Battery wouldn't do a thing so I knew this was already gonna cost me $50 if the phone still worked.
After about an hour and a half I decided to take it apart so it could dry better, once I finally got to the guts I saw that everything was soaked and thought for sure that I was gonna be spending $200 plus for a new phone. But anyways I set all the parts in the rice and let it sit for about an hour and put it back together and test it with my mom's battery and..... Next thing I knew up came the AT&T logo! I was amazed, so I let it start up and so far everything is working. I ran a backup of everything just in case, and I'm worried that the wifi isn't working anymore... But still better buying parts than having to buy a new one! :D

    neglect, mostly.
ive dropped phones in puddles, pools, toilets you name it. i think im on number 20 right now. sub'd to check back in with you in a week or so. be proud now, but once those little circuits start to rust it will start cutting off randomly, screen flips on you (the picture that is), lines on the screen, keypad goes off, so on so on untill it DIES!

though i hope im totally wrong and your phone stays working, but none of mine ever have. ive done the rice, hair dryer, rubbing alcohol, and the oven. they all "work", but time is the bitch.

you're not the most patient of men, are you?

Pull it apart and let it DRY. Not "oh, it's fresh from my pocket and I could wring it out." Not "gee, it's aired out for 10 minutes."

Sit that bitch on the counter, or your bag of rice, ro whatever, pull it apart, and come back TOMORROW. And even then, it's hit or miss. If you're in the ocean, you might truly be SOL.

you see now, turtle ponds are not my normal aquatic cell phone destruction locations of choice. let me repeat, my above post does not represent the repercussions of turtle pond submersion.

Well as of right now I have no sound and the wifi does not work... So it's pretty much a lost cause. Looks like I'll be spending about $200 for a used one on ebay or something, because for one if I don't have wifi at home my phone is pretty much useless due to horrible signal out here.

Main reason I was really hoping it would work is because now it is a toss up between a phone and tires, but I just remembered that my uncle has a friend that owns a tire shop that I can get 33x12.50x15 Maxxis Buckshots from for $400 for everything(One good thing about family get-togethers;)). So maybe the tire thing will work out and I can afford both in about a week because I only have $550 right now...

My dads ex-girlfriend dropped her phone off the end of the dock at the lake. They couldnt see it from above the water so my dad called it and they could actually hear it ringing and then they saw the screen light up haha it only lasted for a couple seconds then fried...

Open it up, take out battery and sim card, leave back off phone then drop it all in a ziplock bag of rice and leave it for a day. The rice will absorb any remaining moisture. Maybe you will luck out. My mom lucked out once with her phone but I didn't get that lucky with my supposed water proof G-shock watch. Timex FTMFW!

It works but the sound, wifi, bluetooth, and battery are fried. But I bought one off of ebay and it should be here today.
