Yeah i really do NOT want to take out a loan... Hopefully i can get a 5k-8k grant, or a scholarship. Ill watch that right now... And i know that contacts and personaly knowing people is 20x easier to get a job. Do you know any companies that would pay for the rest of my schooling if i did an internship with them etc. ???

Still watching the video... That is INSANE!!! Its like i have to buy my life first at an EXTREME price, then have to sell my life i just bought to pay it back... " Stuck in the system " I have to pay rediciously high rates that in the end with leave hundreds and thousands of dollars that is impractical to pay!

Yea man, the current system is a scam, and I do believe it will soon bust like the housing market has like the video said. It's unsustainable, and the quality of most schools is not up to the same par it used to be.

My company does (though it's getting harder to get approved) pay for certain degrees (but only with ASU now I think for AZ) and that's only electrical or mechanical engineering I believe. That's Intel (which... let's face it they're one of the few companies actually thriving in this economy right now). Unfortunately you have some horrible timing on when you were born man :)

Just keep in mind the economics as you play the game of life man, and try to stay in the black and you'll be set good. Keep pushing forward, do go for an education... just play the cards well. I did this side of it right, but I wasted so much money on vehicles, my house, ect... all in all it's better than losing money to a student loan though. You absolutely can not get out of a student loan debt, the house I can literally just walk out on (and probably will be soon). Best of luck to ya man!

If you do want to go to a uni in Arizona... by far my first choice would be the UofA. NAU next, ASU dead last. That said, I'll probably end up going to ASU lol...

I wish i only had to take 3 calc's, i'm taking calc 5 this coming semester. I have pretty much the same curriculum at Rutgers, i was just telling him he might want to get calc 1-3 done at cc so he has a better math background when he transfers. It's what is did and it worked out pretty well. Transferring is definitely not an easy adjustment, but i'm going to come out with the same degree with half the debt. I just have to work alittle harder to get back on track. Good luck w/ your senior year...i'm jealous i have 2 left.

As for the op on loans, make sure u do the FASFA, it's a loan with a reasonably low interest rate. In your circumstances you should get alot from the govt', and u should't have to pay anything untill you get out. The loan that i'm taking out for this year is for 15 years and i have to pay interest monthly, which is roughly $200. But, u can get 20 year loans where you defer all payments untill your done.

I wouldn't suggest joining the military just for the money, looking back i wish i had joined to straighten myself out. So make sure if you do, money isn't the only reason.

actually the FAFSA just finds financial help for you. I have spent a total of around -$2000 (yes that's a negative sign) for my schooling so far because I had good grades in high school and am keeping them up in college.

Alright... Thanks alot, now i see that alot of people arent as fond of ASU lol, why is that though? And i was Thinking about becoming an Officer for 6 years afterwards, it would be rough considering i have a gf which i love, and have future plans with her... But it could also save me from doing something ( a kid, or marriage ) which i wish i wouldv'e waited until i was older. About the loan though... Your saying i can get the loan ( 15-20 year ) that i can go to school without paying for the loan monthly yet, and as soon as i get out i have to start gradually paying it off by making monthly payments and have it paid off pay within the 15 - 20 years? ( and payments would be more with 15 years and less with 20 years, kindal like paying off a car in XX amount of months but in years instead )

    Yeah thanks alot :D

Yup that's how those loans usually work. Honestly I'd be scared to death of a debt like that. It's hard enough for people to get jobs at all, degree or no degree... let alone having to worry about a massive loan you have no way to get out of.

ASU really isn't that great of a school... it's mostly a party school. The UofA is a much higher respected school, and it's science departments are top notch, some of the best in the nation/world.

o i thought it was UofA being a more party school...but thanks, now i know. What do you guys think i should do? Join the service afterwards as an officer ( 6 years ) and get a full 4 year degree, but wont be out til about 29-30 ( and i also would get a TON of benefits ). Or get a student loan and forever have to pay it off?

Depends on which field you want to head into.

Also if you do MET Automotive, you can go online to SAE and apply for a scholarship, I think its $1000 - $1500

I agree with most of the people on this post. The militray is a good opportunity. You can recieve the GI bill for 10 yaers after you complete your service and go to school while you are in as well. If you go stay local go to a comminity college as the cost is much cheaper. Just be prepared to do your homework in regards to if the classes transfer to a 4 year school. Arizona has a course transfer website that compares classes from all levels and what they will transfer to at the 4 year level. Seek an advisors help, but do not trust what they say. You should also seek advisement for whatever 4 year college you are looking to attend. Let them know what your intentions are and advise them of the classes you are taking at the community college level. They will advise you as well on what to take and what not to take at the CC level. There are classes that do not transfer and you will only be wasting your time and money at that point. Also, if you are wanting to do your degree quicker and have the drive and motivation, you can finish early. I completed my AA at GCC in 11 months starting from scratch and taking summer classes. I also did the same at ASU graduating with my BS in criminology in less than a year and am already starting on my masters. If you plan ahead, work hard, and take extra classes, you can finish early.
