Damn. I just logged into my first day of classes. I forgot my user ID and password so I had to dig through a bunch of old notes to find it. I hope this stuff goes fast and painless...

The car I rented in Ireland was a 5 speed and the shifter was on the left side. It completely threw me off.......

5 speeds can be fun but they get annoying after a while.

Yeah especially in traffic. I used to have a Subaru sti 6 sped and it hated being in first or second great....very jerky when you let on and off the gas...it was a huge pain in the ass around Austin. Thats one reason I went automatic for the truck.

That and when you have a 5 speed, it's really hard to drink and drive, text and drive, and talk on the phone and drive. Especially all at the same time :anonymous:

What make of car did you rent over there. I have made several trips to England over the years and I loved checking out all of the Euro cars. It used to kill me to see all of the double cab Hi Lux trucks over there when all we had at the time was the extended cab Tacoma (pre 2001). There was a two door Peugeot model that look really sharp and would probably be a hot seller over here for the tuner crowd. All of the Fiat models that I saw were ugly as hell!

Yeah there were a TON of hiluxs over there. And everyone loves bull bars.....not just the regular bull bars we have in the states, but HUGE ones that go to the top of the grill, almost above the hood...I'd say 7 out of 10 trucks I saw had huge bull bars.

I rented a 4 door VW golf tdi. It was a decent enough car I guess....

Btw Brian your leather seats are teh sex

Since I'm not much of a wheeler, what's the advantage of having a 5 speed on a trail? I would think for getting up some serious rocks slowly, where you are starting and stopping a lot, the auto would be better?

I forgot all about those things! There were a bunch of over the top chrome bull bars over there. I guess the murdered out look is not a Euro thing, yet!

I agree, on the right car they look awesome. I've seen the truck you are talking about and it is sick.

My wife turned gangster and tagged the 4Runner.

That is all I have this time. I'm sorting through the videos - nothing really great this time. Megan didn't shoot much with her phone this time.

I like my 5 speeds. I now have 2 of them. The clutch does get annoying on, and off the road. Buy I've driven one since i was 8. My next DD will be an automatic.

I always had standard vehicles before my Tacoma. That was one of my requirements was a good auto transmission. While my 4Runner is a standard; driving it from time to time isn't horrible on my knee. I probably won't go back to having a standard as a DD again though.

That depends if there are disconnects on the wiring as they go into the door. If not, you would have to take the inside of the door off, unplug the door locks, windows, and speakers, then feed the wiring out of the door.
