Just finished my bed rack this weekend. It was my first tubing project. Overall I'm pretty stoked on the finished product and it saved a ton of money over buying one. Thought I'd share a few pictures. Its made out of 1-1/2" .120 wall HREW tubing and mounted using the front two bed mount bolts and the two rear bolts where the factory d-rings go with cnc cut base plates. Tie down cleats are 1/4" plate also cut on the cnc plasma. I built it specifically for the roof top tent we bought and wanted to keep the tent low enough to cut down on drag but high enough to have useable space in the bed and still be able to crawl in the bed to access gear as well. Went with the bed mount over the bed rails to eliminate worry of the bed sides spreading over time as I've heard people have had trouble with that. Anyway check it out.

Thanks man it was a fun project! Makes you really appreciate the fab work that goes into some of the stuff you see on here when you do some yourself that's for sure.

Thanks a lot guys.:D Can't wait to get take the new setup out and put it to use. We leave in a few weeks for a trip, we are going to camp out of it for 18 days, I'm pumped. I think it'll work nicely

That plug is for the brake light on my Leer shell. It was wired by the previous owner. The shell came with the truck. Usually only rock it in the fall/winter.

Man this thing took me a long time! I'm no fabricator by trade so it was a SLOW process! Plus i don't have the tools or equipment. I had to use the shop at work off hrs and on weekends a few hrs at a time to get that built. I wish i were setup better as i could probably replicate it in a little less time having learned a bit the first time. Sadly though i have no intentions of building another one any time soon guys. Sliders are next!:D
FYI the material cost me less than $200... much cheaper than the ones on the market currently and its to my design and liking.
