Only once in my career have I had to do anything close to running into a burning building, but as operations, if we had a pressure vessel about to explode its our job to run towards it and try to bring everything down safely. We had a boiler go haywire on us once 4 years ago and I was 4 months green in my whole career. 16 hours to bring it down safely.

Geez, you get skerred of dinosaurs, bullets... your probably skerred of puppies and sand too ;)

THX Guys. Hopefully there will be no rain for the fireworks tonight. Our city usually has a 30 minute fireworks program. The festivites at the city park go on all day.

Wow! That had to be fun. One of my favorite trainings we do is pressurized container burns. We use a propane tank. It's soooooo cool. We make a curtain of water with two hoses. Then advance, change direction of one hose to make a weee little area to push the flames far enough away to put your hand in and turn the tank off. HAZMAT - however.... is NOT my cup of tea!!! I check the wind direction - and RUN! bahaha

I'm not afraid of puppies and sand... but clowns....:eek::eek:

I'm trying to get onto the syncrude fire team, more out of wanting the training and I find that stuff really interesting, most emerg work here on site is cuts and people having personal health problems then big fires

Oh. That would be boring then lol. I almost applied at Ft Benning FD but it's the same thing there and I would be bored. I'll bet the syncrude fire training would be fun though! I'll come up there and take it with you! :woot:

1 of the 4 shift teams from syncrude usually scores top in the country at the fire fighter games. No idea what they are actually called lol. But there is a lot of hype whenever they occur. We'll have an internal competition to pick the best team to send to the games every year. Syncrude also has its own fire school and training centre

Exactly, you'd win every year :D

And yesterday was spent all day dealing with the instrumentation guys fuck up, now today is just a cluster fuck, managements away and we're pretty much stuck waiting on them to get back. yet another day getting paid to sit here and look pretty.
