I bought the TrueFlow XDi intake a couple months ago and have been recording my mileage and check for increased performance.

Good News: XDi sounds great and I can feel getup and go.

Not Good Not Bad News: mpg before install = 19mpg...mpg after install and testing = 19mpg. My mileage was calculated over 4 tank fillups recording the mileage and doing the mpg calculations. so I think I got a pretty good amateur average reading without having it professionally done on a dyno machine or anything like that.

Bad News: I have a slight rattle from the canister when I throttle up on the highway. Not sure if I need to tighten the screws down more or what. There is a rubber riser under the canister and I think that might be what is allowing the canister to vibrate a little more then normal, but not really a big big issue.

    *** UPDATE ***

I think I tracked down the source of my rattle issue. I have hood struts installed on my Taco and it looks like the air intake when idle was slightly bumping against the hood struts...

I put some weather striping on the edge of the air tank canister and I think the noise has gone away, but I am still listening for it.

You're getting 30 MPG ? with a stock 3.4? I've only ever gotten 20MPG a couple of times. What did they change between 03' and 06.

    Well for one, they don't make a 3.4L V6 for the '06s.

heres what i found 18 mpg City / 22 mpg Hwy .(kbb.com) I get a bit more than that since I be driving like 65 mph( highway ). 35-40 mph ( street ). Its a 4.0 not a 3.4. DOnt STEP on it but just drive normal. I change the wheels because I would be wastin a lot of gas with the off road tires. I bought the 08 oem wheels sport. Its making a BIG different and i just need a magnaflow so the truck car run more smoother.( trust me ) I dont really drive it a lot but my wife is. She the one that told me.

The rubber does make a huge difference. When I went up in size TOYO only made an LT truck (not P-metric) tire at that size If I'd thought it through I would've lifted the truck which I wanted to do anyway and gone with the next P-metric size. The tread pattern and weight of the LT tire doesnt help mileage

Flowmaster Super 44's True Flow XDI intake
I searched around for a while looking at intakes for my 07 4.0L Tacoma. I finally made my mind up and got the True Flow XDI Intake. At start up and normal acceleration you can tell its there a little but when you floor it, the intake SCREAMS. It sounds amazing, its a deeper tone. I also have dual Flowmaster 44's on so, props to trueflow

When you change your tire size, your mileage will be incorrect. You need to get the corrected value for the tires. Changing tire size will make the speedometer and odometer off.

What size were the original tires? What size tires are you running now? Which gears do you have (should be 3.73)?

He's not getting 30mpg. He is running smaller tires, so his odometer is going to be off, thus giving the illusion of driving more miles on a tank of gas.
