if you can, before you go in, do some research on what various parts cost. that way you know if they're ripping you. so if it's only the front diff seal, it should not be $500.

My dad said the seal shouldnt cost much and it would be about 1hr of labor. If they try me I will just go to the original dealer or do it myself with assistance from my dad. He said he could do it in an hour so I trust him. Just said I'll need new gear oil.

Mike, whats wrong with your diff.? Front or Rear? Maybe the front diff. should be a TSB sense so many people have had problems

The Liberty we have, had the transfer case(4x4) replaced under the previous owner. We had the carfax checked and it said so. So far so good. I still cringe when I pull into say Walmart too fast that the front diff is gonna hit the dip or asphalt. I think skids are in order lol

Hopefully its just the seal. A few months back my timing chain seal leaked. Thankfully I still had the powertrain warranty at the time or else it wouldve been a lil over $1k out of pocket

in the case that it's just a seal, your dad is spot on.

ooohhhh, i was just assumeing it was th seal at the imput shaft.....if it's out of the CV, that's better. easier to get to and fix, whether it's you or the dealer.

Yeah so just got back from the dealer in my rental car  (2011 sonata) well they said something about bearings messed up seal = whole new diff yada yada they are calling a guy out tomorrow to see if its fraud or if it is really damaged. Then when he confirms the damage they will fix it under warranty. I love the people at stadium toyota. Courtesy toyota however claimed I had no warranty.... so I said no thank you have a nice day.

On a side note that sonata is sweet

wait, fraud? on who's part? do they think you sabatoged the diff to get a new one under warranty lol?

sounds like a good dealer though. glad to hear it's going smoothely.

I like the new hundais. their sedans are kind of rip-offs of toyotas (which makes the fact that toyota gave you one slightly ironic), but the quality's good.

They just want to make sure toyota isnt throwing a new diff into a front end damaged ride. The guy said I dont have shit to worry about cause I got the extended power train and itll all be ok. I like it too nice car. It doesnt take much to impress me tho lol.
