    This pisses me off. I like the idea of an updated front end, but not the upgraded engine with better hp and fuel efficiency? I am sick of rumors and would not pull the trigger on a new Tacoma purchase for a 2011 model knowing an updated 2012 is around the corner. Then to hear rumors about an improved motor for the following year (2013) would put off the purchase even more. Toyota needs to do it right and do all the updates at once if they are going to do it.

    What the freak does maintaining a "HP to MSRP" mean and why is that even relevant to the USDM for the Tacoma? Arent they running the Hilux in Japan anyways?

    All I want is for toyota to fix their crappy quality, cover all their TSBs and get better paint. They can start that with the 2012.

    Alright, It's been like three days since the last post and there has been no info posted since...you don't realize that I'm deployed and sometimes when everybody in my world is sleeping I have nothing better to do than find info on the 2012 taco and no more info is driving me crazy.

    Just compared the other mid sized compeditor options to a DCLB V6 and it appears that even if toyota does not change the engine (I know we all want it changed) the Taco in my opinion is still the most efficiant with the MPG at 16-20 mpg.

    The Nissan King cab gets 14-19 (261hp @ 5600 rpm) with a little more hp;

    The Dakota gets 14-18 with a lot less hp (210hp @ 5200rpm);

    The ranger gets 15-19 even less hp (207hp @ 5250rpm);

    The only truck that is closer is the Canyon getting 16-21 (242hp @5600rpm)

    Our DCLB Taco rated at 16-20 (236hp @ 5200rpm) I think is competativly good. The Frotier has a little more torque at the same RPM as the Taco which still keeps them all pretty close. I prefer the current nubers (relativly speaking). It is no question that the new 4.0 would dominate all other competition, but if we don't get it we are still the best right???

    I knew it was a hilux, the front end looked new to me.

    Speaking of Camry leaks, do you like it? Looks too much like a damn Buick Lucerne personally, in that leaked image.

    I dont own one, my friend does and I drive it often. I notice a difference in fuel and power. However her 4runner is stock and mine is not so I dont know just how much extra power and fuel econemy a stock one has over a stock tacoma.

    I've owned a 6 speed 4.0 and an automatic 4.0 and then my parents got one of the new 4Runners with the dual VVT-i. It doesn't not get drastically better MPG. Only 1 or 2 better.

    They have over-thought the fuel management so much so that the truck feels slow compared to what most are used to. It is not rev happy at all. It moves around quite quickly but it doesn't rev up high and it doesn't make a lot of noise. Even when you go full out from a stop on a highway to 60 it feels weird. You watch the speed climb quickly but the engine isn't revving very high and it shifts before red line. I like it. But its definitely different.

    The hilux looks weak, like a fleet car vehicle for delivering sandwiches or scrapbook supplies.
