    In case anyone was wondering, Colorado was AMAZING. I had no idea a place could have so much water! Everything went off without a hitch. Unfortunately, there was a casualty. In my haste to relieve myself on the way back to phoenix, my phone fell out of the car and got left behind in Holbrook, Arizona. :anonymous: With it, I lost a good deal of pictures and all of the gps locations of our camps. I got a new one, but boy do I feel stupid.

    We went just outside of Rico and backpacked along silver creek. The trail that was supposed to be there was so badly eroded that we ended up hiking up the river. We passed a few abandoned mine shafts that were partially sealed. I would have poked around a bit but they were considerably flooded and absolutely packed with bugs. I'll see about posting a few pictures later.


    My new shoes held up fantastically well. They kept my feet dry and gripped nearly everything. I ended up getting the North Face Windwall 2 as a fleece jacket. It was $129, but it is really nice! Blocks the wind really well, and ways about as much as the other jackets I was looking at.

    I hope everyone had a great 4th!

    I know! The local news said the husband and his wife came up on a momma and cubs and she charged almost immediately. I am vaguely familiar with the area that they were in - the area was burned in the fires of '88 so the regrowth/trees are very dense and about 8 to 12 feet tall - visibility is very low. Park officials have closed off the trails in the immediate area and are currently out trying to round up anyone that is already in the backcountry at camps, etc. until they can locate and possibly capture the bear.
    They are having a press conference shortly.

    And the oil spill...Billings has several oil refineries located close to the Yellowstone River. One had a pipeline that ran underneath the river burst (has since been shut off) its a mess for sure. I have family over there and they said the number of people (cleanup crews, etc) that came into town almost immediately after the news broke was amazing.

    Nice pics! The door is the huge opening in front. It zips up so if you need to change you can. I definitely wouldn't use it as a tent that is for sure. Lol
