We had one of those in the CAD lab at my high school... It didn't use powder but you loaded spools of what looked like trimmer line into it and it just slowly melted it down and kinda piled it up to make stuff so we could print out our projects. It wasn't as strong as the stuff in the video but still awesome. It's super slow... that wrench would've taken it about a full night to do. Still cool as shit though.

You know, theoretically, one could actually scan and then send their dick in a box. Justin Timberlake would be so proud.

Used to use those at work to create "cheap" mock-ups for fit and function tests. They're pretty cool, but don't expect your "print" to stand up to very much abuse...it's just plastic. I'd love to have one for making forms to wet-mold leather around, that's for sure!

Our college had one too. It used plastic i think though. Worked just like a regular printer but it just kept layering the stuff. Never saw it in action but saw some of the parts it made.
