Hey guys I'm new to Tacos and pretty new to the off-road scene in general. I'm looking at a 2004 Taco. SR5 TRD 4x4 V6 5 spd manual. Its got 54k miles on it and is going for 14,500. Thats all good and well but it has a Fabtech 6" lift on it and is running BFG 34" tires. I've heard some bad things about the Fabtech lifts and worse things about the CVs with big tires on tacos. The guy said he did some rock crawling in it and used it for hunting to get out into the middle of nowhere. It was his daily so I didn't imagine him doing anything too extreme to it. The underside was really clean and I couldn't find any spots that looked like he fell onto a rock at. Anything I should know about the year or any good questions to ask would be immensely appreciated. Thanks in advance.

got an 04 prerunner. no problems with it so far. couldnt tell you about the lift though. seems a little extreme of a lift and some heavy ass tires to be cruising with around as a daily driver. just my opinion though.

Welcome to TW! I don't know much about Fabtech lifts, but if that truck is in decent shape, that's a killer deal. I paid $13,000 for an 02 with over 100k miles.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I've heard the fabtech doesn't really help clearance at all. I'm not looking to get too into the off road scene so its not that big of a deal for me though.

People are right about the fabtech to an extent -- the drop bracket makes you lose some of what you gain with the 6 inch lift. However, the 6" lets you run bigger tires, so think of your lift coming from there... :D

Since he's a stupid noob (no offence Ryan ;D) and new to the forum, I'll ask this for him.

He's near Fayetteville NC...what part of SC are you in Tigerfan? Think you'd be willing to help him out with a look over? Or any of the other CA fix it division people that might be a bit closer?

Knowing a little more about the truck due to other forums that myself and I3uller are on, the seller seems like he'd be completely honest about the truck, but it would be nice to still have a 3rd parties opinion on the truck.

I don't know where in SC you are but just to get to Rock Hill takes me about 3 and a half hours. :(
