I have seen plenty of threads on "should Marijuana be legal" so I figured it would be okay to post this.

If you have done the research and came to the logical conclusion that Marijuana should be legal then please sign this petition.

I would appreciate if the uneducated people that believe Marijuana is a horrible thing because the government or their grandparents told them it was could refrain from commenting.

    Here is the petition:

I can understand that but you can't blame Marijuana for that issue. The only thing that can be blamed for that is the person doing it.

That being said, would you rather see that person doing something like Marijuana that is non-addictive and extremely safe(compared to alternatives). Or would you rather see them drinking alcohol, which is addictive and extremely dangerous?

This is also an extremely good cause.

Rather than spending more than 7 BILLION dollars each year fighting Marijuana, it could be generating over 6 BILLION in tax revenue + roughly 7 BILLION in entertainment revenue. That is approximately 20 BILLION this would gain per year.

Deaths attributed to certain drugs(per year):
    Alcohol - 85,000
    Prescription Drugs - 18,675
    Caffeine - 5,800
    Cocaine - 2,390
    Heroin - 2,147 AND......

    MARIJUANA - 0
While approximately 70 people per year die while high on Marijuana, 0 of those deaths are attributed to THC! To die from Marijuana you would have to smoke around 800 joints, and even then you would die from carbon monoxide poisoning, NOT THC.

Marijuana really does have medicinal uses, while most use it for fun it does help to relieve symptoms and effects of AIDS, Glaucoma, Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, Epilepsy and Chronic pain(no pun intended on the last one).

While most will not sign this petition please think about all the people that were imprisoned over Marijuana, something that is completely non violent. Also think about all the sick people that could benefit from it.

NOT TO MENTION HOW IT WOULD HELP THE ECONOMY!

where did you get those "facts" from.

just sayin', having a link would help your cause quite a bit.

BTW I agree it should be legal.

I just called Lamar Smith's office to ask why he won't give HR 2306 a hearing...

His secretary actually told me one of the reasons is because it is a gateway drug. Are you kidding me? Are we back in 1980? WTF

    Anyway.

    Rep. Lamar Smith's contact numbers:

    DC Office: 202-225-4236
    TX Office: 210-821-5024

Call, call and call again. I will be calling every day.

No this is true, just as Coca-Cola is a gateway to Coke and Rum and Jack and Coke...

And politics is a gateway to prostitution...

And guns are a gateway to shooting accidents. No, wait, guns are a gateway to bullets. No, wait, bullets are a gateway to shooting accidents.

No, wait, chickens are a gateway to eggs. Shit, hold on a sec.... I need to google some stuff. That's it! Google is a gateway to TW! Yeah, that's the ticket!

"Would you rathers..." arguments are a false dichotomy and don't really make sense. Just because X is bad and legal doesn't mean that Y should be legal because it's not as bad as X.

One could also draw the conclusion that since marijuana is illegal and alchohol is worse, alcohol should be illegal. Perhaps one would rather "them" not be high on anything.
