    had my 40 on for almost 4 years. i like it a lot, but i also have the exhaust dumped straight out of the muffler, right in front of the rear axle, which drastically changes the sound.

    I rarely drive without the windows down though, so i can't hear the person next to me regardless or what's making the saound. :eek:

    btw, i have the "american thunder" version of the 40......no idea what that means, but maybe it's a little different than the original 40??? :notsure:

    Does dumping really make a difference? Mine still looks completely stock, but doesn't sound stock at all.

    I have yet to hear a muffler/exhaust sound good on a Tacoma and i've heard them all. They all sound rice to me, even mine. I'm eventually gonna have my stock exhaust put back on whenever I get a chance.

    i got wicked flow 13 inch muffler. single in dual out with dual resonated tips. sounds pretty good to me. definitely not a v8 ford or chevy but its pretty deep for a toyota.

    after like 2,300 rpms the sound goes completely away and all i hear is my k&n sucking in air. so it's perfect at highway speeds going 65 mph or faster. good discount too on their site

    hmmm....some say that some of the raspiness has gone with the new long tubes. With your setup it might be similar to a URD mk 1 catback and long tubes but I'm not sure. I guess as long as you keep your factory y in there you should be alright in terms of noise, droning, whatever.
