So since Circuit City is goin out of business I decided to go and see what kinda deals that they had goin on. Complete Nonsense! They had actually raised their prices from what they used to be and slapped a 10% off sign on everything. When Circuit City was thriving, they had the best prices. I went to Target and bought the same DVD's for the same price and didnt have to wait in a line for 30min. This Liquidation sale thing is completely bogus. Just figured everyone needed a heads up about this so called bargain sale.

    Visit their "revised" website: www.circuitcity.com

I was desperate for a 4 port RS-232 board today and for giggles visited their site. Or at least tried to.

Circuit City is kind of like Costco. Nothing is really cheaper than at walmart and target

Ours started closing out in early December. Just before christmas the wife and I got a great deal on a Samsung 56" DLP and we love it. Saved over $400 from what the same unit was on sale for at Best Buy. Also got some killer deals on DVD burners and discs.

The stores by me, raised prices on the high ticket items. But I was able to pich up some PS3 games that just came out for $40 instead of $59 everywhere else. Some DVD's were a pretty good deal.

Tv's & PC stuf was a complete ripoff.

Yeah I saw a very good chart outlining CC's receipe for bankruptcy....

Early 2007 - Replace a technically-proficient sales force with inexperience low pay employees.
    Sep 2007 - Reports $62 million loss
    Dec 2007 - Reports $208 million loss
Dec 2007 - Give $1 million retention bonuses out to executives
    June 2008 - Lose another $165 mill
    Sep 2008 - CEO resigns
Sep 2008 - another triple digit loss. $208 mill
Oct 2008 - NYSE threatens to delist stock too low
Oct 2008 - trouble paying vendors
Nov 2008 - Files for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection
    Nov 2008 - Closes 155 stores
Jan 2009 - No one wants to buy this mismanaged boat anchor. Shut the doors.

I went in ours on Sunday to look around. The sales staff was friendly & helpful despite the writing on the wall. Prices for what I was looking for was $10 to $20 more expensive than what I usually pay. Wasn't interested in big ticket items for it was all sales final & what if fails a week after buying? You are left to haggle with the manufacturer directly. Um, no thanks.

The last part would be my most concern.. Most people wont realize this when they are in the heat of the moment getting a 'deal.'

    +1 on that synopsis.

I went Sunday. I was looking for a new tv for the family(joedirt's) room. The first 6 tv's I looked at were all sold out. I gave up as the prices went above 2000. I did pick up a bunch of movies and cds.

The same shit was done when the CompUSA stores went under! You probably won't see the true deals for a couple weeks. Just before they close the doors.

When they closed the CC by me at the end of last year, I went in and bought a few things. Right before christmas I went back to see if they had anything. Nothing but shelving and crappy movies that people wouldn't pick up if they were laying in the street.
