Very nice! That front storage is huge! I am sure with it being a sit on top, it is pretty stable as well.
X2 haha that is such a nice yak. I love all the dry storage it has too. Not many sit on tops out there with that much dry storage.

nice set up! I am still trying to figure out the best way to store my kayak in my very limited space in the garage. Right now I have it up on saw horses with pads under the bottom.

that was one idea I had. I am definitely interested in seeing your set up. I want to be able to store it up on the ceiling but all my ideas have made it a major pita to get it down each weekend when I go paddling.

    Hey Aaron,

what you described here is called Oil Canning. This occurs a couple of ways, how you strap it to your car or how you store it when not in use. a good way to fix it is wrap that part of the Yak in a large black garbage bag and sit it out in the sun. Only have it sitting on the stern and bow, with the concave hanging free. Do this a few times. The plastic will eventually get soft and re form itself. Hope this helps !

Also, try to store it on its side, that where most of the plastic is and it will not deform itself.

If you don't mind me asking how do you like the burn? I'm getting more and more into white water/River Running and there is a Burn for sale pretty close to me. Would you recommend it? I am also looking at the Wavesport Diesel and Dagger Mamba. Do you have any experience with those?

    Thanks!

Thanks! I will need to do that. I am thinking it came from sitting on top of the car. I have foam blocks on my yakima rack but I had it on there one day for a few hours in the sun. I will have to start paying attention to that.

I've only hauled it this way a few times, all in the past couple of weeks. None of those trips involved Interstate or serious highway miles so I can't say how the truck will get blown around under a heavier workload such as higher speeds and buffetting by tractor-trailers. I'm considering making a custom sling/tiedown set-up that will provide a better cradle since the front pad I've been using is a bit narrow and leads to more oil-canning than I wouold like to see under the front of the boat. I think the primary cause is the short distance between the two crossbars. Kind of close for a 14+ foot boat.

I know the short distance is a big factor on my car. I only have about 3 ft between crossbars which definitely isn't very stable

I love my Burn medium. I'm right around 160 lbs and it's perfect for me. I have alot of friends that paddle them too. I've never paddled either of those other boats but I've heard good things about both. If you're ever down in Richmond let me know and I'll let you test mine out on the James.

Thanks! I'm thinking about selling 2 or 3 of them and buying a Diablo or Native Versa Board. Gonna go demo them soon, I'm just not sure which ones to sell...

I've got a Trophy 126 just like that, handles great and I like your paddle set-up. I'm still getting mine set up the way i want it though. What do you think about the rod holders on smaller rivers or creeks?
