It will steer a lot different too. When you are starting out from a dead stop and turning at the same time, it will tend to pull you in the straight ahead direction instead of where you are wanting to go. Especially if you gun it.

That's what I told her! Seriously, good luck with it! I can only offer moral support.

Hey buddy, I never removed my 3rd member, let alone the ring gear. Just jacked up the rear ,pulled the clips, pulled the axles out about 6 inches, installed the lockright piece by piece, returning the axle at the appropriate times to reinstall the c clips, tightened the bearing caps and bolted back on the rear dif cover and drove off. When I drove off I did not go in a circle or hear my ujoints explode, or anything crazy.I drove it daily, even in the snow on a mountain grade, no problems. of course I never tried to burn out with the wheel cranked. Drive soft, you are allowed to coast through a very tight turn if you would rather not hear your gears click or clunk. Do it your way. I just think you are doing way more disassembly than I did.

hahahaha why didnt you say something earlier? this threads goin on 2 days lol

no im pretty sure everything i did was what i needed to do. idk what kinda tacoma you were workin on but i dont have a diff cover or c-clips holdin the axle on lol

i just finished the install but my pinion shaft didnt really look right so ima try and get one tomorrow hopefully then put that in and put everything back together

but i am all about goin slow(gas mileage). it aint a race car so i dont mind relearning driving habits so im gonna take it real easy. i hope the noises arent as bad as what ive heard, but really a long as i dont get stuck it can make as much noise as it wants lol

I don't think so either. Sorry, just saw your thread or I would've posted before you took it apart. I think you need lockright 1615 or the powertrax no slip 9220803002.

Edit: Ooops, just read your first post again and that does look like the right part number.

Sorry I don't know too much about them. Did that strange wear come from a spider gear? Is it grooves in the pinion shaft or is it almost like deposits or metal worn into a burr? I guess since you're installing the lockrite then you don't have to fix the spider gears or find out why one did that

This website supposedly has the part number you listed above. You can plug in your VIN number to see if it's the right part number.
    http://www.toyotapartszone.com/oem/toyota~shaft~front~differential~lock~shift~fork~41462-60020.html

After doing some looking on the same site, it looks to me like your part number might actually be 41342-34011
    http://www.toyotapartszone.com/oem/toyota~shaft~rear~differential~pinion~41342-34011.html

Here's a pic from a different website for illustration.

idk there are some slight grooves but idk if it was enough material to produce the litttle burr.
