For all practical purposes, it is legal here. If you walk into a medical marijuana establishment, they usually have a "doctor" who will prescribe it for anything other than, "I just want to smoke marijuana." Stress, headaches, pain in the elbow, it doesn't matter. Funny thing is the dispenseries were opposed to legalizing it in the last election. They can't really make money on it if anyone can grow it and sell it.

As for making billions on tax money, that's probably unlikely. It currently nets about $50 million in tax money from the dispensaries and as I stated, just about anyone can get a card.

Legalize it because what gives the government(a small group of people) the right to tell everyone else(a vastly larger group of people) what they can and can't put into their bodies. They don't have the right.

Sorry for the late responses. Was out kayaking most the day.

It's not a lie. I have no problem changing my stance on legalization if there is a VALID downside to it, which to date I have yet to see. I will smoke whether it is legal or not so it's not going to affect me.

I also have no problem with a civil discussion as long as there are educated people that have researched the topic on each side. This however is impossible here because you have kids that have never tried it and won't take the time to research anything.

It might not fix the economy but it will definitely help it. The black market would be there but it would take an extreme cut out of the money going to Mexican drug cartels. The black market would shift to US based growers that are growing/selling without a permit. I seem to recall the prohibition of alcohol... People started making it themselves but as soon as it was legal the black market slowly disappeared.

I am hoping this is sarcasm but being that you are 20 I am betting it's not. Take a look a the list of supposed "gateway drugs". Want to guess what is at the top of the list? You are more than likely guilty of using it. Did you go on to try different drugs after having your caffeine fix? Probably not. It is the person that is the difference. I have smoked for over 15 years and I have never tried anything other than Marijuana and alcohol. Don't even smoke cigarettes.

I am curious of these problems that it would cause. Care to elaborate? And remember this would most likely be regulated like alcohol, so 21+ to buy and consume, no dui and no public intoxication.

I agree...lets stop wasting infinity bajillion dollars to keep a drug thats never killed a single person illegal.

Dude, just be honest. You're NEVER going to change your stance. That's why you're here, to try and change everyone else's stance. Just go away, because nobody's getting anywhere. Leave the people that don't do it alone, and go continue breaking the law.

P.S. Don't you think if it would really help the economy so much, people much smarter than you and I would have already thought of it?

P.P.S. I'm done with this, so welcome to the ignore list.

P.P.P.S. Quit talking down to people just because you're older, only makes you sound like a crotchety old fart

Legalizing marijuana has nothing to do with the bill OP is talking about. It is a bill to lift the federal ban and relinquish control over marijuana to the states.

    What it would change:

1.) The federal government would no longer spend any more money on the investigation, prosecution, or jailing of individuals trafficking or soliciting drugs, or the investigation and seizure of grow operations.

2.) The state governments will have to absorb 100% of the responsibility if they so choose to continue to have marijuana criminalized, which, in any red state, they will.

So, in conclusion, the bill may very well do absolutely nothing but clear the desk of federal law enforcement, a little bit. It has nothing to do with the legalization of Marijuana. Marijuana will not be legalized if this bill goes into law, probably nowhere- definitely not everywhere.

The American Government is not interested in GIVING away any more liberty than it absolutely has to. Sorry, that was biased commentary.

I know you are just busting chops but this is my take...

People cannot get physically addicted to Marijuana because it is NON addictive. The problem is that people form a psychological dependence on Marijuana. This would also be known as a "habit".

I started smoking around 14 and smoked pretty religiously up until I was 28-29. At that point I decided to slow down and it didn't take me going to a rehab clinic... I didn't even have to ween myself off it. I just started smoking on Fridays and Saturdays. At present an 1/8th will last me around 6 months or so. I smoke maybe once a month if even that sometimes.

Here is a good article on Physical vs Psychological "addictions".

#1 - Big big difference between Physical and psychological addictions.

#2 - I can attest to this being extremely false. It definitely makes sex better.

#3 - You don't have to smoke it... amateurs

    #4 - See above statement

#5 - False - Depends on the person.

You truly have no idea what you are talking about. Have you even used it for a long period of time religiously? Thought not. I have and I did not have any problems putting it down.

One person does not make testing a fact. YOU might not have any problems "putting it down", but do you speak for the other thousands of folks interviewed by the Drs.?
