    are you kidding me???

how is driving under the influence of either one more or less dangerous than the other??

Both slow reaction times, and completely change your perception of reality

get behind the wheel under the influence of either and youre a hazard to everyone around you

Drunk drivers run stop signs and kill people.

High drivers stop at them and wait for them to turn green.

I like how if its "legalized" all the problems will magically disappear. The drug cartels will abide by the law, and the national deficit will be eliminated...

I do realize this. Look up ^^^ post #99. This is an extremely good first step to the process though. Once we can legalize it federally and states start seeing how profitable it can be it will spread rather quickly... Kinda like the lottery.

this I have to agree with. if you just like to get high just fucking say so. I used to smoke weed nearly every day and did so for years. never got high at or before school or work and never around my parents out of respect to them. yes, weed has harmful effects like anything else that people get addicted to. weed isn't for everyone, but if you're responsible with how much and how often you smoke it's not going to stop you from being successful in life.

Drug cartels are in Mexico and do not have to abide by US laws. People will not buy mexican dirt weed from the cartels when they can get a higher quality product for near the same prices.

Obviously the deficit will not be eliminated over night. It will take time. Marijuana is just one of the steps to get there. And yes it will reduce the deficit.

    Please god do some reading.

It's a fairy tale. Relinquishing federal control doesn't mean the states are going to miraculously realize it should be legalized- any politician who backs an effort to legalize marijuana on the state level will be committing political suicide.

I mean, Ron Paul can do it, but he knows that nobody will turn out to vote for him anyway, so it doesn't matter.

You can get all excited with your petitions and national optimism, but it all boils down to the voters (the elderly), who they vote for (republicans), and what their candidates can use to destroy their opponents (avocation of a bill that would legalize an illegal substance).

If you want legal pot, immigrate. It's structurally impossible for it to happen in the United States.

It's long but informative. And these tests were not done by NORML. They simply published this information.

I just wanted to add that we all see what happens when a demographic amasses the power to move on an election- it might work out for 4 years, but it just builds up steam in the majority. If a politician ever overcame the HUGE obstacles and pushed through the legislation, there would be 20 more politicians unleashed by the folks who were "asleep on the job" ready to overturn it before it ever took effect. Do you detect the parallels I am drawing from?

    Without seeming argumentative....

Those who make their money through illegal marijuana trade will no longer have a source of income, as the reason they make money is because it is illegal. When you can go to a store and obtain it from somewhere that has been grown and regulated and you know its safe, nobody would continue buying from street dealers and thugs.

And all the revenue marijuana could bring would greatly help the deficit.

I think Cannabis should be legal. I really do. If the Government is going to spend money fighting drugs, then I think they should focus on the real problems, like prescription pills, meth, underage alcohol, ect.

Sure would. A tax holiday would fix the economy faster than legalizing pot. Tax incentives for new and existing small businesses would too.

The government extends, extends, and extends unemployment benefits and then is SHOCKED when polls show more and more people have GIVEN UP looking for work.
