cat back exhaust trd or borla??

so i want to make a decision about a cat back exhaust for my 2011 DC. TRD or BORLA????

i like the sound of both by the clips online. the reason i am going full cat back and with one of these 2 exhausts is because the dealer says they wont void any warranty.

so for the people that have one of the 2 or have heard please put your opinion in .

I run a borla.

As said before many times, you wont see much of a difference in the performance of your vehicle. So go with whichever one sounds better to you.

A few things ive noticed about the borla.

No annoying drone while cruising down the highway.
Nice overall tone in the lower RPM range.
and she screams when you get on it.

If you like them both equally, is one priced better? If so go with that. Both are quality catback systems.

 

I have the TRD catback that comes with the TX Pro and it's pretty sweet. It isn't a muffler that screams to neighboring states that you are coming (which is the part I actually like) but it does let people closeby and yourself that you got something nice under the hood. Has a nice deep grumble when you put your foot down.

Good luck choosing, I have not looked at Borla's, so I don't really have an extensive advice range.

tubing in front of muffler

and tubing/tip behind muffler

 

thats what i thought ... have you had any excess noise or ratling from it being 3 piece>???

 

nothing that I have noticed...the tail pipe is still as sturdy as it was the first day it was installed...no annoying bouncing around. Nothing has leaked. As long as you tighten everything down with the clamps everything should be fine.

If you have any welding experience you can weld it all together when you get it on.. or if you want you can take it to a shop and I dont think they will charge too much to get a few welds put in.

 

There will be no warranty problems from either a catback or a weld-in muffler, unless someone totally screws up the install. Don't listen to whoever told you otherwise, chances are they were trying to get a catback sale.

 

I have the TRD unit and am very pleased with it.
It was easy enough to install by myself in the driveway.

 

thanks for all your opinions. i appreciate it . leaning more towards the TRD . i feel as if the sound will be good for me even down the road i plan on having this truck a long time. so not too loud but a perfect sound. im going to buy one tomorrow and install it after vacation. thanks guys

Trd for moderate growl and a intact warranty

Somewhere there is a compilation of exhaust sounds.

Others may be louder and throatier

 

Yes, the TRD has a nice easy growl that doesn't get annoying when you drive it but still lets you know you got something nice under the hood.

Did you install the Borla catback yourself? Seems pretty straight forward. I've read removing the stock is more of a pain. I'm betting using jack stands will give me more room to work with.

Any thoughts on the install?

Of course I found this thread after I posted my question. It is for a TRD catback, but I'm thinking it is applicable to the Borla catback.

why don't you ask your neighbors which exhaust system they will like better...they will be hearing it and thinking of you every time they hear it. I would rather keep a stock system and good relationships then be loud and obnoxious.
