its a gateway drug, a majority of its users are "inexperienced" so yes it would impair driving point and case below :turtleride:

I don't understand how it's not addictive, after reading some of these posts and witnessing my older cousin flunk out of his FIRST SEMESTER of college because he couldn't focus on anything other that pot. It's been 4 years almost and he's still dealing with it. Maybe people react differently but his ordeal was a good lesson for me.

I hate it when folks call it a "gateway" drug. Of COURSE it's a gateway drug- it's the weakest, most innocent drug there is. One does not automatically start listening to "Avante-Guarde Canadian Impressionist Trombone-Centric Jazz Fusion" without listening to a few Miles Davis records first. :D

I'm not attacking you, by the way, I'm just making a stupid point.

If you legalize you take away the drug cartels main cash crop. The money they make off of cannabis funds the rest of their operations. I would bet legalization is what the cartels fear the most, but so do the Feds. There is alot of money to be made in the drug war on both sides. Look up Wachovia money laundering for drug cartels. Our big banks make big money off of the drug trade. Of course it doesn't help when our Justice Department and the ATF are giving them guns. Look up Operation Fast and Furious, our ATF and the Justice Department are in pretty hot water.

I smoke pot probably once or twice a week, usually less than that (if I'm busy)
I've done all the research into everything everyone's posting, and though I've grown up alot since I first started smoking, I still believe it should be legal.

I don't use it for medical purposes, as I am a perfectly healthy adult, but as a recreational drug I know from personal experience it's alot safer than alcohol. Not to mention harder drugs..

Anyways, MODERATION. Anything can be addictive, but with a little self control pot could be the safest recreational drug out there.

He'll respond with some other pro-MJ based study and/or dispute the findings for some reason or another...he wont read it...and he wont change his mind

yet those of us who are against it are the uneducated ones...even tho we have BOTH sides shoved down our throat

People like the OP remind me of the bible beaters of the deep south...the ones who condemn you for even the slightest thing...and beg you to come get saved and spend every waking spare minute at church etc etc...and are relentless in their push to get you to come to church

While I believe that there are times when gov't should not have too much control etc etc...i also think it is the duty of the gov't to protect us from things that are harmful to us as humans and as a society. what other purpose should they serve? they should not provide for us nor support us...but rather create and maintain an environment for us to lead long happy successful safe lives

I do not feel that MJ provides any benefit to further that agenda

I've been on both sides...ive read all kinds of propaganda supporting both sides...when I was in college I was a huge supporter of MJ...but now that I do not associate with it or have it in my life for any reason other than to write tickets...i find my life to be much more fufilling and happy

The same can be said for alcohol for me...i RARELY partake in alcohol...I'll occasionally have a Newcastle, but thats because I like the taste...if they sold it sans alcohol and it tasted the same...i'd still drink it

Now that I no longer go out and party and bar hop...again...my life seems to be much more enriching and happy
