New 4.56 gears on 285/70/17s, do I need a ECU update?

    Hey y'all, I'm calling on the collective brain-trust to assist me. My question is after installing the new gears should I try to re-flash the ECU? My speedometer and tachometer read 2200 rpm @ 60 mph and the shift points during hard acceleration rev up to about 5500 rpm. So, is this normal after re-gearing or should I continue to pursue other options?

    4.10 gears, sliders, and lots of buttons.
    Give it more than 10 mins for people to see. And dont make double threads. FWIW, It doesnt sound normal, and you may want to check into getting the tranny calibrated.

    how does one go about recalibrating a transmission?

    2200 at 60 seems normal for 4.56. You did come from 3.73

    In technical chat there's a thread for a formula for regear to find your true speed.

    Yes sir, I read that thread and I'm not asking about a true speed recalibration. My question relates to the rpm:mph & acceleration shift points.

    Well 2200 at 60 is normal. I recently regeared to 4.88 and am at 2200-2300 at 60 and 3000 at 80.

    Tranny wise I have no clue. Maybe someone with a second gen can help us.

    Not really. Depends on how hard I push the pedel. I usually have it shift before 2200-2300. It's auto btw. If I'm going onto the freeway At 3/4 throttle I'll go out to 45-5000
