White, 4x4 TRD Sport long bed double cab. I can't wait. I just have a couple of questions.

The engine is a 4.0 litre v6 with the same displacement as the v6 in the 4Runner....why does the Taco have less horsepower at around 230 when the the 4Runner has 270 HP? Is there a lot of room to increase performance in the Tacoma v6?

I plan on lifting the truck at some point and will read more on that on the site. No real questions here before I do some reading.

Also, why the hell doesn't Toyota put a locking gas cap/door on their vehicles. The 4runner doesn't have one either. WTF!

    Thanks for any replies, guys.

The 4runner has dual overhead cams I think.

The 4runner has dual VVTi to get a little more hp, torque and fuel economy, albeit the peak torque and hp are at higher revs. It means variable valve timing is applied to both the intake and outlet valves. It's the engine everybody wishes they would put in the 2012 now it's well proven but it appears that is not going to happen - you are not missing out by buying a 2011 according to all the info and rumours out there right now. Congrats on the new truck !

Not much to it. I usually go by just "Vanguard" on message boards but that was taken so I added 223 to the end. I added 223 because I do a lot of shooting and own a couple of AR style rifles which are chambered in .223 caliber. :D

Thanks Dave, that explains a lot. I was not aware. I'll probably still try to squeeze a little HP out of the engine with some minor mods. :D

Just picked up the truck and I couldn't be happier. This thing is sweet!

I suppose lift kits will void the warranty, right? :D
