    We did a spur of the moment run yesterday, started in Pine Valley & ended up just past Ranchita overlooking Borrego Springs in Culp Valley, not much there though.....

    My guess would be either for fire prevention reasons, or there isn't enough $$ to maintain them/keep them open. Sometimes they get closed too because some endangered or threatened animal will be discovered living in that area.... in which case, no more public access
