I actually just google and pick the first link that appears on my search. Of course I read it. I read the links that go with it as well.

There are more people driving yet the number of alcohol related deaths has been constant or has gone down. The number of alcohol related deaths is about 1/2 what it was in 1982 (1279 in 2009 vs 2799 in 1982). The article states that the CHP attributes the increase in drugged driving to the use of medical marijuana. Driving under the influence of marijuana just goes into the general category of "drugged driving" vs "drunk driving" which is why they say "drugged driving" instead of marijuana driving. The people doing the arresting attribute it to marijuana. I'm sorry if an article doesn't agree with your preconceived ideas on how things should be. Medical marijuana is legal in California and it's having an impact. I don't give a rat's ass what your study says. Real life says differently.

I see the big difference here, you could give a rat's ass about actual research into how marijuana and many other substances effect real drivers. To me and most people looking for objective evidence that is a reliable way to quantify effect. More studies like that should be done, but can't be done here since some people decided marijuana has no medicinal value and won't even allow research to confirm or deny that conclusion.

I on the other hand do not rely on CHP cops subjective hunches. They are deeply dependent on the continuation of a marijuana drug war that justifies larger budgets and swat teams.

Relying on obviously biased opinion while ignoring objective data is clinging to a preconceived idea.

Seeing a steady increase in accidents due to drugged driving which happens to coincide with the legalization of medical marijuana is objective evidence. And it's real world evidence.

Studies indicated that ABS braking should prevent accidents. Real world application suggests it does not. Studies are controlled environments whereas reality is very dynamic and things you didn't consider in the study tend to come out. See how that works?

I'd like to see the evidence, could just be more focus on possible drug use, since there is no good way to know any level of pot intoxication. With no subjective measureable evidence it is not objective or real world, just opinion. And correlation isn't causation.

No argument there, but we have evidence that cars do or don't have abs accurately and measurable accident scene evidence.

From that article you posted I really did think you just randomly picked by the title.

The number of alcohol related deaths has gone down because car safety has came a real, real long way since 1982 and enforcement has gone up as well as laws changing(open containers for one). The general category of drugged driving encompasses every drug there is so of course it is going to increase. There are people popping pills left and right and those have a hell of a lot more affect than Marijuana does on driving.

I find it pretty interesting that you would rely on CHP opinion over a factual scientific study. I guess I am not surprised though since everyone that is against marijuana is relying on the opinions of others rather than the facts.

Yet another person that doesn't read. As I said before it was never my intention to change peoples mind. That is not why I started this thread. I started this thread for the people that believe it should be legal. The debate only started when the uneducated people decided to post.

People who don't share your opinion aren't uneducated. I hope you didn't mean that, because that would be an incredibly ignorant idea.

(btw, I don't necessarily disagree with you either about marijuana)

Yet despite that increased safety, accidents for drugged driving have increased. It's not just CHP opinion. They're the ones who record that information.

Could you link to data showing how this is recorded so that we can evaluate the method.
