Eric Stevens just left the company. This happened quite a while ago actually. ID is supposedly going to keep making stuff but I don't know exactly what direction they're headed.

Plenty of other good equipment suppliers though.

Lots of companies. ID was one of the first companies with a low Q driver, but since then there are quite a few.

They didnt do anything special with their motors, they were typical overhung designs.

You could probably consider a move to something like the new Type R thin mounts an good upgrade. Underhung, lower distortion, good excursion.

The bigger disappointment in speaker companies closing is DIY Cable/Exodus Audio.

    Matt's right.

OP, maybe give us some more info on what you're looking for specifically and we could help.

And Matt I agree, sad to see Kevin get out of the game. I was looking at saving the Anarchy as a joint venture between Bob and I but I don't think it will happen. I'm not liking the way the driver models and it's so damn deep (in terms of mounting).

I think I got the last sub :) They shut the site down the day I got it in the mail.

I will attest that the IDQ12s rock the Tacoma! I'm probably one of the few that has 2 non shallow mount 12's hidden in a dualcab Tacoma :)

Well right now I'm not really looking for anything. But a new tacoma is in the future and I woulndt mind knowing what to put in it. As far as sound goes I really dont know much, I just know I have never heard speakers that sounded as good as mine (without a sub).

Focal 165VB. I ran a set in my IS300 and they were just incredible for an off the shelf component set. They sounded way better than they should have for a passive system with NO time alignment.

Holy shit, when did Sonic Electronix become an authorized dealer? WoofersEtc used to be the ONLY one. I bet they're pissed.

Apparently PB and ID have had a long relationship via ownership, though they tried to maintain separate product lines.

    http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/industry-shop-talk/100680-no-longer-image-dynamics.html

Eric seems to jump in occasionally on DIYMA, probably find info there.

Probably through the PB side of things, just a natural/logical move once all controlled by the same parties.

The above bolded brands are pure SPL subs and aren't even in the same ball park SQ wise as the ID subs. And I hate to say it (really) but Mike at Sound Splinter hasn't had product in I can't tell you how long.

Edit: Not saying ID is the best or anything but they made damn good SQ drivers.

I recently purchased a set of ID xs69 comps from Sonic on ebay with a "best offer" of 399, they were asking 499, and took my first offer...wish I would have went lower lol. These front comp sets are better than the Focal k2 power comps I had before imo. Regardless of who owns ID now, these things have some of the best mid bass I have experienced. I am running them passive with 100 watts going to each side, they handle it with ease. The tweet is pretty smooth too, def not shrill even at high volumes. I could not be more pleased.
