protection for rear slider window

Does anybody know of an add-on protection for the rear window. I like to driver around with my rear slider open a crack...and I'm too absent minded to close it when not driving. So I was wondering if there's some bars or screen that can be installed which allows me to open the window and leave it that way without worring that somebody can easily break into it!

I don't think that would work too well. It'd be a simple matter to manipulate a hanger into one of those holes, close the window slightly and flip it out.

Home Depot or Lowes sell little clips that go on a sliding window track and tighten with a flat headed screw (for your fingers). You might see if one of those will fit in the track.

 

The piece of metal doesn't require 2 holes. Maybe just a flat bar with no holes would work best. But as I understood it, the piece used in the link I posted was a scrap piece he had lying around.

 

It would still be relatively easy to pop it out. As long as the crack is wider than a coat hanger, you can close the window until it touches, easing tension off the bar and then flip it out with the hanger end. Something like this would work better:

You could try a 1/4" dowel rod. Paint it black and you would never see it, not to mention cheap insurance < $1.00

 

What would be sick is a cylinder/actuator that just opens or closes the window via a switch and somehow cannot be pushed open when power is removed (i.e. the truck is off). But I'm sure it wont be a cheap modification not to mention that there's not much room between the seats and the window.

No, it actually fits in the window groove quite snugly, hence the finger holes.

Yes, it was scrap, but still works good.

Not as easy as you might think. Also, some guy does not want to be standing in the back of your truck too long messing with trying to get it out. If you want more secure, go with a piece only 1" wide, but do not lose it in the groove. I tried to get it out and I think it does a great job.

While I think this would work well enough I was looking for something a little different...sorry for not being more discriptive...my bad!

I was thinking of a set of bars similar to light/turn signal protectors. This could be mounted inside or outside of window and still allow it to be opened/closed.
