Ok lately my trucks been making a strange grinding noise. It started a few weeks ago and would come and go. But now its gotten worse and louder. Its definitely coming from the engine and seems to occur when the engine is under a load around 1000 rpms. I've also noticed it'll do it while idling in traffic (again around 1000 rpm). Here's a video i just took with my old and outdated camera...hopefully someone can help me pinpoint this!

I have a similar issue. I don't know if its the same noise, but my air filter bounces sometimes and can knock either the cai box or the hood. Check that first! GL

My truck makes a similar noise. I haven't had to time to address it, but I think it's the fan hitting the shroud when the engine torques under load. Mine does it mostly when in reverse but always around 900 to 1000 rpms. My first guess would be a bad motor mount. But then again I haven't done any diagnosis to verify. If you do fix it, I would like to know how.

you guys seem so laid back about it. go underneith. its the fucking motormount haha!. i had to fix mine last year. everything u are saying describes my problem. go to a fab shop and have em pull the mount out of the broken frame and reenforce it. if they tell u that the engine needs to be pulled out theyre bullshitting u. dont bother going to a dealership, theyll blame it on u if theres any sign of offroading!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've checked that on my truck. The motor mounts are not sunk into the frame. I initally thought that would be the answer, but it's not. But it's def a good thing to check.
