matte black wrap for rims

don't know if anyone has posted this. i ran into this on youtube. this is an alternative to plastidipping or painting. of course, i'd look at this method as less permanent and the vinyl will probably not withstand offroading. still, a good idea if you just want black oem rims.

Vinyl wrap is amazing stuff. Depending on who makes it, it would probably stand up better than some paints and certainly better than plasti-dip. The only thing it probably couldn't handle is curb rash or rock rash.

 

Looks really good. Too bad it won't hold up too long. Seems like a lot of work for something not so permanent. But I have to say it looks so much better after then before.

 

Keep in mind getting it to lay down flat and smooth will take a bit of practice especially with all the different curves and angles in a wheel. Wrapping a vehicle looks a lot easier when watching someone who is experienced do it but not an easy task to say the least. If you do decided to wrap your wheels and have zero experience, be sure to purchase a lot of extra vinyl. I can guarantee you will have your fair share of waste.

 

Seems like a lot of work... First time you kiss a curb and it's ruined. Pretty neat though!

 

With that logic even a stock wheel will look like crap after you curb them.

But if they're painted, you can sand and touch up fairly quickly and hide the rash. With vinyl you need to redo the entire process.

 

true. however, on the flip side this process is easily reversible and no curing time is required between coats.
