What kind of problems does 4/4.25" backspacing create?

    Hey all,

Just finishing up the suspension swap on my truck and now I'm looking into wheels and tires.

I've got the factory baja wheels that came on the Rugged Trail edition. I've searched quite a bit trying to find the backspacing on them but nobody seems to be sure. Most people think they are 5.5". My question is, what kind of problems will I create with 4.25" backspacing, or 4" as opposed to the "ideal" 4.5" while running 285/75/16's ?

If it makes a difference, I'm running the camburg uniball UCA's with sway away 2.0" shocks and no sway bar.

Ideally I'd like to get out of it without having to buy spacers for these, but I just don't think I'm going to clear the UCA enough @ 5.5" backspacing.

    Opinions/comments?

4-4.25 bs will be better than 5.5 for your UCAs. You wont need spacers

Ah, just to clarify, they are currently 5.5" i believe, with spidertraxx in either 1.5" or 1.25" they would be 4" or 4.25"

I would stick with the 1.25" spacers. It's true that the further your tires stick out the further they will be from the UCA, but some people with 4" backspacing have had rubbing on the OUTER edge of the tire, due to the increased arc the tires makes when turning.

That's what I was looking for. How bad is it going to make it at 4.25" of backspacing ? I'm trying to find the best option for my setup but seem to be finding out that it's just best and easiest to switch wheels, despite liking the baja wheels as much as I do ( not to mention being more expensive )

I know when I only had 4.25" of backspacing it really caused it to burn when I peed, luckily it cleared up with the proper back spacing.
