I currently have 17x9 helo maxx 6's in black with 265/70/r17 with a leveling kit on my 08 Taco. Im looking to buy 20x12 fuel octane black rims(-44 offset and 87.1 hub bore) and 305/50/r20 nitto grapplers. Im not stressing about lifting a little bit more if the need be, but im curious to what yall think about this idea. Good idea? Bad?

Other than the hub bore being too small (you need at least 106mm), the wheels being way too wide (305/50/20's are only approved for 8.5" to 11" rims), and the backspacing/width combination making the rims stick out almost 6 inches further than stock  (tons of rubbing), it looks like a great idea.

I also couldn't find where any of nittos truck tires (5 different models, all of which are called "grapplers" btw) even come in 305/50/20. All I see is 305/55/20.

I'll save you some more research and just tell you that even with a "leveling kit" (which you did not note the size of so I'll assume it's 3"), If you got 20x9's with -12 mm offset, you'd be pushing it with a 12" tire. You will have to trim a bunch of fender well plastic, and chop and re-box your cab mounts, and then still might rub.

You would even still need to trim if you went with a 285/55/20.

I have a 2.5 inch spacer already so I was contemplating putting some 5100's on. The tires are terra grapplers I found on Amazon 32x12r20. After I sold my rims and tires I have now I was gonna throw on some fiberglass fenders and do the cab chop.

Just making sure you know that you can't use the 5100's without ditching the spacer first. That would be stacking lifts. I still wouldn't recommend the 12" wide rim. I bet even with glass you wouldn't be able to turn. Not to mention the tire isn't designed for it.

don't combine a spacer lift with 5100s. It'll be uncomfortable, and more importantly, unsafe.

From my understanding I thought I could as long as I didn't exceed the down travel length of the stock suspension?

Where did you see that you could do that?

You will have little to no down travel left, and if you go over a bump the shocks will top out and could break. Also preloading the stock springs to basically twice what the spacer did is going to give you a terrible ride. Thirdly, most people at 3" of total lift new uca's to get the alignment in spec. With the setup you are talking about, i don't even think it would be possible to align your truck.

I thought it may have been on here but I suppose not. I just don't want to have to but a new lift kit to gain a half inch in the front. I suppose ill also go with the ten inch wide rim since you talked me into it ha.

For the lift, what I would do is get the 5100's, set them at 2.5", and buy a 1/2" top plate spacer for like $20 to get it up to a full 3".

I was trying to talk you into the 9". With every inch of wheel width you add (for a given backspacing), you pull the tire out 1/2", and it might be close to rubbing on the outer edge when you turn. The 10 may work thought I'm just not sure.

I really like the look of the ten inch and but i definately like the idea of the 5100's versus a full 3 inch spacer. Youve been alot of help man i appreciate it greatly.

Decided to keep them. Going 6" and 35's just waiting on the lift to come in.

:frusty::annoyed:, good chose, I love these rims and can't wait till I get one for my truck, I think I'm going to go with 16s, cheaper tires.
