5 lug vs 6 lug

    I need help understanding what makes a 5 lug versus a 6 lug pattern, I understand there are few to no lift options for the 5 lug but what marks a 5 lug please help me understand

    I don't know it wasn't intended to be but I am extremely confused and need help before buying a truck, what modles are 5 lug and what are 6

    Count the number of lug nuts on each wheel. If there are 5, it's a 5 lug, if there are 6, it's a 6 lug. 6 lugs are either 4x4 or prerunners (2wd with 4wd suspension which is why there are more lift options for them).
