Oh, and for your Croc problems I bought some cheap $9 ones from CVS that I took on my trip last summer and they are incredibly lightweight and have held up great as well.

I think things have calmed down. They evacuated everyone from the area - lots of backcountry campsites and trails there - and have closed off the area for the time being. Bears move around ALOT so the chances of her still being there are slim but its for public safety and peace of mind so....
They decided not to capture the bear since it was just a momma protecting her cubs and that is normal behavior, not predatory.

Any suggestions for a camp stove guys? I don't mean one of those things the size of a pop can either... something for car camping that I can whip up a hot meal when a campfire is out of the question.

I was looking at some of the coleman 2 burner stoves and such but they are pricey!

I'm down for big adventures but I don't think I'm ganna go all out on this trip.

Me and my dad are looking to plan a 3 or 4 day trip. We want to get out into the wilderness away from the average day hiker, but still be able to relax and enjoy our time outdoors.

True,A flat surface would be helpful.:)

There are a few spots I can think of - I'll get you some info later as I don't have my maps etc here at the office.

The good thing / bad thing about the Jackson area is the high tourist population. Bad thing because everything in and around Jackson is pricy and crowded. Good thing is they are all for hte most part lazy and as long as you are willing to put a little effort into getting off of the beaten path you will have the place to yourself.

    Bungee cords? :notsure:

I saw that. Sort of interesting but way more tent than I care to lug around. Now if they make a backpackers version of it....
Of course my Kelty only takes about 5 minutes to set up and most of that time is pounding the stakes into the ground!
