Yeah, that's what I observed at Moab - guys who were open were having to gun it so hard I was afraid they were going to suddenly get traction with a lot of wheelspin on and shear some teeth off an R&P. Nobody did though.

On my phone sorry. But he crawled over a rock and only had one tire planted. As well as turned into the rock. One cv was pulling the truck and it broke.

This is y I would lock the rear before the front. Or as others say. BOTH would be ideal. Just bring parts tools

REAR will serve you most... Locker is used for climbing ultra steep, rocky or rutted grades. Going uphill, the vehicle weight (center of gravity) shifts backwards... and so the traction needs to be on the back tires.

    2010 Tacoma, sold...

But he can only afford one, so he needs to make a choice.

If he had the money to do both, I don't think he'd be asking.

Roughly a thou give or take, including the compressor.

Go on east coast gear supply if you need an exact number from the lowest price outfit.

i plan on gearing and locking both ends with the arb air locker. the other option i have been kicking around and not as off road oriented but, still nice would be a set-up. a mechanical rear locker either detroit or another respected brand to keep things simple and an e locker for the front. thoughts

well either way a selectable locker for the front diff does anyone have any experience with the mechanical lockers? also would the arb be a solid choice for the front or are there other brands to consider that would be better?

ARB is your only choice for the front, short of lunchbox style.

If you're blowin all that money, might as well go ARB front and rear. Strong, reliable, and easy to install, since the wiring harness and the compressor are set up to control two lockers as easily as one.

But you can do a *lot* of good wheeling just locked in the back.
