Your door jamb has a plate with pressure settings, I think 29 psi front & 32 psi rear recommended, I run it higher in the winter myself.

I've been running 35 in my truck and car for years. Rotate every 10k front to rear. Excellent tire wear, no problems.

Great method but what PSI did that result in for you?

They (Toyota) lists a higher psi for the rear tires for when hauling a load with the OEM tires. I tell everyone to use the chalk meathod because every tire is going to distribute the load differently. For example, when I haul my boat, I raise my rear tire psi to 31#.

34psi here. The factory/door jamb pressures are almost always to low, especially on 16" wheels with 32" tires. High speed handling with tires that "roll" cuz there isn't enough pressure in them, can be shady. If the tires have sidewall bulge even when air'd to the recommended psi, then the manufacturer did a poor job in specifying the factory tires on the vehicle.

i would agree with higher pressures. I found when I ran the pressures listed my tire shop told me I underinflated my tires and as such would not warranty them out. Now I run closer to max pressures. My current tires, non oem, are michelin LTX. Best ones on the market that I have found for tread ware and handling. They have a max pressure of 44 and now I run them up around 39/37 or 36/34 front to back. Just depends on what I feel like. Plus with these pressure settings I found that I was getting better gas mileage as the tire was not so resistant to the ground. rolled better.

The important thing that hasn't been said about that door plate is it's only for the OEM tires....If you put different tires on it that plate is useless....

and much like the all knowing Chris- Lil higher in front and right around 30 works great for me....18 all the way around on the trails. I haven't towed anything heavy enuf to warrant a chalk test for towing yet.

I want some Terra Grapplers- and those I'll be runnin near 50 or 55 I think...Maybe higher.

I just bumped it up to 35 x 4. It feels a little more rough, but I am hoping for better mileage.
