$1880 King COs front&rear, Killer deal?

If I get it with a LR UCA ($375 from the MetalTech Group Buy) that comes to $2255. Compare this to the DSM Deal for Fox 2.5 Resi Ext Travel front/rear with a DSM UCA at $2070. That's a $183 price difference.

Kings vs. Fox Ext Travel, $183 price difference.

What you boys think?

 

U first or second gen, the second gen kings from poly are 1800 fronts only and 2900 for the fronts and rears

 

I'm 2nd gen. It's $1880 parts# 25001-119 (front) and 25001-121 (rear).

Those are for the Non-adjustable shocks. IMHO you should save up and go for the adjustable ones.

 

Adjustable compression is nice but I think for me, just getting high-end reservoir COs may be overkill already. I won't be doing any high-speed rallying or racing. But shucks, are they that much better on road than OMEs or Billies?

 

But ur comparing ext travel coilovers to stock replacement shocks, but if u were to get the nonadj kings u wouldnt need new ucas b/c ur not changing any suspension angles

If i had 2k for my suspension i would go with the foxes at the current deal, both are top quality brands but ur getting much more suspension for ur money with the foxes

You mean those Kings arent for lifting? Really? They not ext travel but still lift the truck up to 3" I read. They just dont have the extra downtravel, yes?

i will say it again, ALL race style coilovers (king, fox, Icon, SAW, radlfo) are adjustable in terms of the amount of pre-load you can put on the coil spring. the amount of preload on the spring determins lift height.

the difference between the adjustable and non adjustable Kings is the compression/ damperning adjuster on the shocks resi. both the adjustable and non adjustable ARE able to lift the truck 0-2.5".

 

having said that, there is a big difference between running a standard bolt in CO (king) and the LR UCA and the DSM UCA and ext length Fox CO

the DMS package is a bolt on performance suspension, the extra travel is acheived from the uni ball style UCA and extra shock length... you will gain more wheel travel

the bolt in CO and LR UCA will not yeild more travel, and the UCA only allows for more alignment, the stock ball joint is retained.

IMO, the LR UCA and stock replacement CO is a waste of money for the benifits the kit yeilds. the DSM package is a much better buy

 

Ah, more downtravel specifically with the Fox Ext. Travel/DSM UCA vs. the standard travel King/LR UCA. Got it. Although the LR UCA uses its own ball joint, it's still a ball joint like the stock setup, and doesn't allow for ext. down travel.

Sooo then, the Fox package is a much better value then the Kings. Thanks for the clarification. Now if only I can get some more cash together somewhere...
