    OK,

Usually, I'm not one for asking for open advice.... (help, yes, I do ask for... but not advice like this lol). So bare with me...

But this one is an exception. OK, for those of you who know me on here from my posts... you know I have posted in a few threads about wanting to get a 6" DB (what I believe is truly the best kind of lift... but w/e for now). I particularly came oh-so-close a couple of times when ProComp offers one of their killer deals.... but i always find "reasons" not to.

Here is the deal: Since I got my brand new 2010 DCSB 4x4 last July.... I wanted to put a lift on it right away.... hence I purposefully didn't get the TRD, and opted for SR5 thinking I'd put the money in my own suspension choice...

Well, since that time, I have literally flip-flopped about 452 times about whether to get a damn lift or not... Every damn time I'm finishing the end of a hard week (much like this, and much like now) I tell myself to spoil myself and get one... but then Monday's when I do my average 70 mile daily commute, I second think the gas mileage loss and over-all usability lol. I have to say I get about 20 mpg with my mini 245's....

So, I have got the itch again lately and have decided I want to get a lift and that's that. So, right now I'm trying to decide of I want to do a simple 3" "leveling kit" with a block in the back or if I should wait for September for ProComp's free install deal again (assuming they run it) and do their 6" instead....?

Here's my thinking: I really only want to stick with 33" tires to minimize the pain for gas mileage loss etc (yes, I know if i care about gas mileage trucks/tacomas/lifts, "then aren't for me bla bla bla").... but at the same time I have a feeling I will regret the 3" lift and wish I had done 6" DB ProComp instead.

So, all my rambling.... I guess these are my real questions to those who want to help (and not bitch or rip me for one thing or another)

    1. How bad (if at all) does a 6" procomp or fabtech lift look with 33's?
    2. Does it make sense to still do a 6" DB lift if all I want is 33's anyway?
    3. What do you guys think? Lemme here your valuable opinions...

(to be completely honest, I REALLY dig the look of the 6" kits, and that's really what I am leaning towards.... but research/opinions pay off, so here it is)

    Thanks in advance.

Many people run 6" lift with 33s. You want need to worry about rubbing and a regear wont really be necessary.

That's my thinking also... I dont wanna regear... but I would like to see some concrete photos with a 6" and 33's if anybody's gott'em. I did a search and found lots of 6" kits... but I can't tell for sure what tires they are... you know.

you need to have a 4.5" lift or higher if your gonna run 33's unless you wanna cut parts on your truck.. 33's rub on the inner guard of the truck

with a 5.5" lift or higher u can run a 315 or 35's! so it all depends on you... just because its a bigger tire doesnt mean you cant buy a little horsepower boosters for under your hood! i put 33's on my 08 tacoma before i sold it and added a throttle body space and k&n cai for arpound $500 and got better gas mileage with it then than when it was stock.. so if u dont mind spening a little more for a little more beef and a great sound that would be a nice addition!

TB spacers do nothing, except make a wistle. The K&N intake "maybe" gave you 2 hp.

the spacer increased my gas mileage.. the intake gave a few more hp and a great sound... but my mileage increased by like 6 or 8 mpg's

Driving style change increased your mpg. Think about it......If a 3/4" to 1.5" thick spacer increased anything, the manufactures would lengthen the intake assembly accordingly. And with modern fuel injected vehicles, a laminar air flow returns the best performance.....Not an air flow thats doing jumping jacks, twists, or bends.

not true in a way. it is not mandatory to have 4.5 inches of lift the run a true 33 inch tire. you can do the cab chop and lose the mud flaps and pull the plastic forward in the front of the wheel well. boom good to go.

its not that bad the cab mount chop is completely fine just box it back in and its good to go. any muffler shop can probably do it for you just make sure they do not over heat the mount cause it can damage the rubber bushing in the mount itself.

a plasma cutter is what is ideal for doing the cab chop its fast and painless. i run a 295-70-17 a true to size 33.5 inch tire they look a little more beef than a 285 imho and if you trim smart and do the required mods you can stuff them just as well.

this also begs the question of wheel back space and what lift you go with a true 3 inch lift will let you run this size tire but, not anything bigger without doing some more serious cutting and beating back of the pinch weld.

Yup grinded them most of the way off. I tried just to bend them but that didn't work to well.

3" is the perfect look for our trucks, and as far as off roading goes it gives you decent clearance.
