Like Tank Zombie Killin?. Don't think my wife even noticed the difference. Love the lift so much the marginal change in the stiffness was not a big deal.

Do you want more height or a softer ride?

just thought i would post this in here in case anyone else was considering going the route i took with the three inch pro comp lift kit on a regular cab taco. after speaking with them at great length and escalating the issue i finally got someone who knew what they where talking about at pro comp lol it only took 5 calls.

this is the word from them. the pro comp coil 3 inch lift was not designed for the regular cab tacomas it was designed for the double and extended cabs with a v6. apparently the lighter weight 4cyls have a tendency to get almost 5 inches of lift such as the case is my truck.

when the shop was done with the install the mechanic measured 4.75 inches of lift! and while it may look cool its completely wreaking havok on my drive train and will probably cause severe damage to my differential at some point if left as is.

procomp took no responsibility in the matter neither noting that they do not cover labor charges and that they would be willing to send me ome 885 med duty coils for the front but, the back is on me! the other option that would help matters by lowering the front would be an arb bull bar they told me that they would sell it to me for 820$ thats the best they could do. i would have serious thoughts about ordering from 4wheelparts.com if this is the way they practice business on the regular.

i'm now stuck holding the bag even though i had asked the appropriate questions to both 4wheelparts.com and pro comps so called tech's. i'm writing this in hopes that no one else makes the mistake i did in believing that they know what they are selling to you to bolt onto our trucks. once again this is only for the regular cab or extended cab 4cyls.

Yeah i was wondering why you came out with so much lift.

the way the truck sits now after 2 weeks and over 500 miles and parking it on ramps and such everynight to help settle the front springs. the truck has in the front 4 3/8 inches of lift with no added weight such as plate bumpers or heavy underbody armor.

i doubt my cv boots will last through the next 2 oil changes and thats if it doesn't grenade my differential first. i have to ascalate this to the ceo if i can because today i was tld that the person i was speaking with on the matter was a general manager of pro compand there was no higher authority i could speak with. needless to say his offer to resolve this problem for fucking blows one way would be to swap out the add a leafs and the front coils and pay labor charges all over again and this would all have to be done on my dime minus the front coils.

i had suggested a bull bar to help put some weight over the front axel to help smooth things out seeing as how i could instal that on my own and not have to pay labor again. but they are not even discounting the bull bar at all really.

the engineer at pro comp also reassured me that i would not need uca's because the kit was designed with toyota reps there and was designed to retain the factory uca's! i bought a set of light racing ucas from fat bobs just in case any wayand its a good thing because it would have been almost dangerous to drive with the stock uca's at that height. so that was another 500 dollars.

Dang. I hate when stuff like this happens. But it's unfortunately part of the risk we take on when modding our trucks away from stock - and we as TW members need to do our best to make sure that new folks considering suspension mods are aware that things at least have the potential to go all pear shaped.

So yeah, the aftermarket has a certain tendency to think "a tacoma is a tacoma" even though there's like EDIT 700lbs lbs of difference between a std cab 4 cylinder and a double cab 6 cyl automatic.

Anyhow, enough soapboxing. Some practical advice. People rag on the spacer lifts a lot, but at least when you use a spacer lift combination like the revtek, you get to keep the original spring rates of the factory springs.

So, after you've exhausted all your breath at 4WP, your cheapest solution to keep your truck on the road could be to buy a used Revtek front spacer kit off of someone TW and install it yourself with your factory springs and shocks, with the help of some of your local TW enthusiasts. You'll need to have someone with a spring compressor assemble the strut. Maybe you can at least get your "friends" at 4WP to do that much for you gratis.

People rag on spacer lifts - but they're comparing them to the ideal, and a 3" top plate/compression spacer combination is better than what you're sitting on now.

Then when you've got some more coin saved up, you can switch over from that to a different suspension set up.

My two cents - and worth exactly what you paid for it.

ok i have the 3 inch procomp lift. has anyone done this lift themselves. is the tie rod tool just a basic tie rod tool or is that toyota specific?

i sent emails to all the guys at pro comp and all the managers at pro comp today explaining the whole story start to finish in hopes that they can do something for me besides ramming it in my grommet like this.

the thing that is unbelievable to me is before i ordered the kit over the phone i called 4wp's to get info on it i knew it was possible to get a little more than three inches but, i did not expect this. so i talked to a pro comp customer service tech named kirby who told me that it would work great i would be able to retain the factory uca's and there would be no way i could get over 3.5 inches of lift and that would be worst case scenario.

lol then i had them transfer me back to the sales guy and we completed the order diff drop and all. now i hear from another tech at pro comp that the kit was only designed for a v6 tacoma wtf! they quite literally sold me the wrong lift altogether? if i don't hear back from the ceo greg adler soon it's going to get grimey.

the problem with just taking it out and then squaring up with them is that i'm out of money all together. it was all spent on this build snorkel lights light bar tires bump stops control arms i told i would not even need ss brake lines front and rear the lift itself and the install. i'm totally tapped out and worse my wife is getting tired of it and now she is up my ass like i'm a ten y/o lol.

i just wanted to finish it up so that i could enjoy it and be done with modding for awhile but, the lift has now made that impossible. i did my research at least enough to know that what i ordered should not have had this effect on my new truck.

fucking 4wp's it looks awesome sitting in my driveway though lol a real bad ass off road rig the truck has literally 0 down travel and refuses to articulate up front due to the coil being so stiff i was not opposed to buying the bull bar from arb in fact i wrestled with that decision for a coupe of days but, settled on a light bar instead to save some cash.

if i would have known that i would have needed a 1,000 dollar bumper to make the suspension work somewhat properly i would have ordered it along with the kit. but alas i didn't and i built the truck around not running one chose the front skid that i'm pretty sure will not work with it even if they do give it to me then i have to sell a brand new randy ellis light bar that ran me 300 bucks.

regardless it looks as if i'm going to have some kind of sale either a complete suspension system that apparently works great on the v6's or a full front bumper and nice little light bar and possibly my new all poo high clearance skid as well.

tomorrow i have to clean the sand out of my vag and get it done lol. i just got it all together so it sucks to have to rip it all apart and go in a different direction.

why are you yelling? wish i had a big picture for this it would have been much funnier lol.

just in case you didn't read the posts above:) the spring rates for the kit i have which is the same kit on its way to your house have identical spring rates of just over 720 pounds.

thats a lot even for a V6, but seeing as you have a double cab as well you may be ok but it will ride stiff either way due to the aggressive spring rate. also you very well may experience more than the stated three inches of lift as well though it won't be as severe as mine.

AND PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! record your stock measurement's and the final result from the hub to the bottom of the fender flare as the instructions provided with the kit say to do. then post them in this thread i would love to see the results.

i would say go with the ome kit but, that may be premature lol. 720 is alot of spring man if your installing this lift yourself be careful as the coils are not on the front shocks when delivered.

Hey guys, I have the full 3" kit on my 09 double cab v6. I actually love it. All my friends that have Taco's say it rides really smooth actually when they are In it. I haven't even taken the sway bar off yet. Goin to tomorrow tho for even more comfort. Question: is It ok to add the top plate spacer from toytec to the coilovers? I think the springs settled a bit and the nose isn't as level/high as I would like. I was thinking either the 3/4 spacers, or the 1/4 spacer for the passenger side and the 3/4 spacer for the driver. Any input on what I should of its possible even? I'm weary of spacers, but I know these arent 3" spacer lifts or anything either. thanks.

hey Moose, im no expert but I dont think that you should be stacking lifts on your truck. if the front end settled on this procomp kit it is probably still 3" or better. If you want for lift, take that kit off and install a 6" drop bracket kit.

I recently installed the procomp 3" lift kit and on my 09 db cab long box with camburg ucas. I got almost 4" of lift in the front. I removed my sway bar because the drop brackets wouldn't fit. It rides good and looks good but im a little concerned about my cv's. the boots are rubbing so i hope that its only minor and will last a while. Is anyone else seeing cv boot rub marks?
