Like mentioned, replace the stock bumper with the ARB and both your trucks will have stout front bumpers. You would probably be looking at paint scratches if you had the ARB in place at the gas station.
I think the ARB is the best built overall front bumper for our trucks. I am more into the "tube style/prerunner bumper", but for a utility set up or just a really well built bumper the ARB is hard to beat.

I thought that if there was something that went bad 3 times the vehicle could be classified as a lemon and the mfg has to buy it back. right? :notsure:

Maybe so....never really thought about that side of it. I just wanted it fixed.
Other than a small noise, it seems to be doing ok now....so far.

Well, if its of any consolation, I've worked pretty hard for quite a long time to save up for that red thing....FINALLY, was able to get it. And then it took me 3 months of off and on internet searching to find the one I wanted. I found that one sitting on the lot at Clear Lake Dodge in Houston. Made em an online offer that they accepted and I took off a half day of work one Saturday, drove over 2 hours to get up there, bought it and then drove it to my shop in SW Louisiana and parked it. Wife then took me back to to the Houston dealership to get the Tacoma and I was back down in south Texas on the job by the next morning....I really wanted that car...LOL

I have noticed this myself, when I test the first Taco I noticed it immediately and it concerned me. I've had mine for about 6 months now and I guess I've gotten used to it as I don't even notice it anymore. But my foot used to hit the arm of the brake pedal causing me to not be able to apply enough pressure to the brake pedal when stopping and I would have to let off to reposition my foot. But now that I've had it a while, I haven't done this again. I guess I've subconsciously learned to stop doing it.

Sucks about the a/c and being hit. Good luck with it. Aside from the pedal issue, I have loved mine. Came from a Dodge Ram QC Hemi and the mpg's are not great, but still much better. Plus it's a lot easier to park. :)

Dude that suck!!!! I know how you feel. Someone hit me in the parking parking lot and scraped my fender on my DC. Then they ran off. So I was stuck with the damage and debating whether to take the hit on the deduction to get it fixed. Good luck on getting this fixed!

Now thats hella weird. I live in Phoenix, AZ and my A/C is on every time my truck is running. I never even disengaged the A/C since I have owned the truck. Never had issues.

I know how you feel OP about just wanting to get rid of it and move on. While not exactly the same situation, I recently went through a fish tank hobby phase - bought a big 55 gallon tank, a bunch of fish, live plants, and all the setup to make it look good and work well. Several hundred dollar later, I spent the night away from the apartment to come home to a wet floor... the tank had cracked and spilled most of its water all over. over 30 gallons worth. I couldnt throw all that shit away fast enough. Luckily the fish survived and now I have them in a temporary (and VERY crowded) 10 gallon. But I digress. It sucks receiving a major loss like that, especially on top of other problems you may have been having with the truck. My advice is to just wait a few days or weeks until you calm down from the initial reaction, so you can make a more informed, researched, choice.

I've gone back thru these posts and reread a lot of what you guys have posted, listened to my wife some more, went back out and looked at the damage again and have cooled off a little bit....sorta. I really like the look of that ARB on 4X4Fink's truck. At first, I thought of maybe just a "like-for-like" replacement for the stock bumper, even getting that stock bumper from Samsung. After doing a little research, I think I'm going to order the new style ARB bumper with a set of ARB fogs. Been shopping around and can get this setup for about a $1K (which is the same as the deductible on my truck)....delivered to my shop. Obviously, I've decided to keep the truck for awhile.

OP, replacing the plastic bumper cover is a snap. If you get samsung's cover it will literally take you a half an hour to install it yourself. I would take advantage of samsung's offer, because to have a body shop do it will cost a crapload, mainly because they would have to paint an unpainted replacement part. Samsung's is already color matched.

Hopefully you are local to each other, because I tried to have a bumper cover shipped to me one time and it was going to cost an arm and a leg.

Go for it! FYI, an ARB costs less than the quotes I got from 3 different body shops to replace my stock bumper cover. All three shops wanted over $1K to replace the cover!

I agree, As In understand it, you SHOULD be able to turn that in under lemon laws because you have had the same problem three times. Then you could get a brand new Tacoma and start all over.

Otherwise, since you obviously already like plate bumpers I would turn it in under the insurance of the guy who hit you and use that money to buy your plate bumper. There isn't a reason why you should even have a deductible to worry about since he hit you while you were parked.
