I had one that close a few weeks ago. I've never had a hole in one, but have been very close 3 or 4 times.

Who uses http://www.golfnow.com/ for discounted tee times. I've been using it for a couple of months & have saved hundreds of dollars so far. It is free to sign up & some courses may have a minimal surcharge of $3 or $4. But worth it! I have saved as much as 67% off regular prices.

Hey, I'm new to golf (have only been once) and just got an old set of clubs from my boss... They aren't too old, but exactly what I'm looking for as a beginner (and they were free!). Anyway I was at the driving range today and I broke my driver. I was hitting balls and on a random swing the head just flew out about 90 yards. I went with my friend and his 1 and 5 driver broke as well and he just got his clubs about a year ago. Is this a common occurrence? I'm not too bothered by it cuz my clubs were free but my friend is pretty pissed

Golf clubs tend to break if you hit something hard enough other than the ball .

On another note went out and played nine the other week. Haven't played in over a year and before that about the same so right now I am averaging once a year. The little course I went to didn't have a driving range so I had to go out cold. Made the green in two on the first hole using my 5 iron and made par with a two putt. The bug has officially bit.

I might have scraped the turf once or twice while driving but i didn't hit anything other that the ball hard... I only hit the ball on the shot I broke my driver on, and it went pretty far too

You can have any of the clubs re-shafted. So even if one breaks never throw it away. Clubs are under great pressures & shafts can break. Your driver could have had an internal failure from when your boss owned it. I would think a new shaft would only cost you about $20-$40. Call around to golf stores & find one that does repairs.

I had a set of Ping irons lengthend about 8 years ago & it cost me $11 a club for new shafts & grips.
