I know virtually nothing about these vehicles.

I repeat: I know virtually nothing about these vehicles. I have a 99 Tacoma 4wd. Looking at the rear leaf springs, I noticed they went OVER the rear axle, and as a result, they look upside down, rather than bending down in a smiley-face fashion.

Was this stock? I heard the term "springover" and I'm assuming it meant what my truck has.

    Thanks.

Yes these trucks came with the spring on top of the axle. Your springs are probably wore out and that is why they look upside down.

^^^ what he said. When I got my 99, the leaf springs were straight. No arch. So I combined some leaves from an old chevy S10 blazer I had sitting around and it fixed the problem. Plus i can add a little bit more weight in the bed and not have my truck squat so much.

This guy gets it , this is what I'm talking about people.. He didn't freak out & empty his wallet on aftermarket springs when his stockers went south, he got resourceful (prolly cause he's broke like me..:D)

I'll bet those Chevy springs straightened all your leaf issues out, & improved the ride too didn't it ??

    Reps for you dude...;)

So, should the springs be straight? No arch up or down?

I know they arch upwards when they are under the axle, but this is the first time I've seen springovers.

If I'm not being clear, currently, my leaf springs look like a frown. The highest point is where they go over the axle.

    Canada Eh!
Ill be clear. Your springs are worn the F out! They should look like a smily face. Over axle or under axle, they should all look like a smily face.

Like others have mentioned there are many options. Replace, re-arch, or add leafs. I personally chose to replace mine with Northwest Offroad 2.5" lift springs with an overload leaf.
