Okay, I am wanting to buy a CB for my Taco, but have no idea what to look for. In this thread I would like people to give their two cents about CB's and associated equipment. I want to know what it is (year and model number), what features it has (along with what the features do), where is it placed in the cab, antenna paired with it, experience with CB radios, and how long you have had it. I don't want to spend a ton of money on an item that has features I will not need on a regular basis. I will be using it for trail riding and convoying with friends to camp grounds. Please no "I heard about this one thing" accounts. I want LEGIT information, with minimal speculation. Thanks guys, have a field day!

I've got a Uniden Pro520XL that I've been using for a year or so paired with a 3' Firestik II FS. It's hood mounted with this and connected via FireRing (it's a lower profile antenna connector). Works great and I got it tuned down to 1:1.

The 520 is a great little radio that doesn't have too many bells & whistles and is nice and simple for trail use.

I'm using a cobra 18 paired with a little wilson antenna. It's not the best radio I will admit, but I run a box on my setup and it does fine. I bought this radio before I knew anything about cb's and if I had to do it again I would have spent a litle extra coin to get a decent full sized radio. My concern was where to mount a radio and I love where mine is now. When I move up to a full size I will be mounting it in the center console. For a compact radio those unidens are nice little radios. They are the only compact I would consider buying. I'm saving up for a Galaxy 10 meter and 2 pill fat boy that a buddy of mine is selling. Then I'll be SMOKIN!

I'd like to see what people have for a CB set up. I bought a cobra 19 and I'm not impressed. I forget what brand the antenna is, but it's a pretty short, cheap mag mount

Cobra 19's aren't exactly known to be great radios. With any setup though the key is a decent antenna. I love the wilson mag mounts. I have one on the Tacoma and one on the....(cough) Odysey and they perform great right out of the box with no tuning.

I think I am going to mount my unit in the center console compartment that way its hidden and i can just get the headset out and still not see the unit...either there or the glove box. have not yet decided

I was kinda thinking about a glovebox mount for the unit too. I am actually going to the Toyota dealership tomorrow to price a new glovebox so that I won't feel bad if I make some severe changes to this one.

I would like to integrate mine into the box. The only problem I can see with that is the fact that due to the latching system, it would have to be over on the far right hand side of the compartment. I don't want to have to reach that far to make adjustments.

I've also got a Uniden 520. I haven't tuned it yet, but it still works great for a small group trail run. I mostly just use it for the PA speaker..

I like how compact the Uniden 520 is. What antenna are you running with it Ripcord?
