i have the long bed and 4 door. its long as HELL. but not a biggy. i'd go back and buy a an extented car in stead of access cab because mose of the time you don't have more that hourself and a friend....unless he is having a family or tons of friends

Resale is definitely stronger with the 4dr trucks. While I really like the access cabs, they have weaker resale (obvious from this poll).

Well, this thread is a old revival, Russel already bought a Tacoma. He got a dark blue DC SB TRD off road 4x4 6 speed with 6" Fabtech and bilstein 5100's @ 1.75 and 35x12.50x17 Toyo MTs. Its also got a canopy on it. I'll try and find a pic of it....

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Extended cab looks better and unless he is gonna be hauling a bunch of people he does not need the 4 doors all they would be is extra weight and lower MPG's for no reason. If he goes with a double cab make sure he gets the long bed, they look better and serve more function, you can haul things in them and close the tailgate! Sorry but I hate the shortbeds, no offense anyone

I have an access cab and I love it. I think it looks the best, and I like the longer bed without having the super long wheelbase of a DCLB. But if he carries passengers often, I would definitely go with a dc. The backseat in the access cab ends up getting used more for storage than seating in my truck.

I'm not worried about resale because this thing is gonna be my truck until it turns to dust.
