5100"s and rear tsb

Has any one had the 5100"s set at 1.75 and stock rear springs and than got the rear tsb done, if so did the ride get much stiffer. The reason I'm asking is because i have the stock rear springs now and the ride is perfect for me.I'm wondering how much stiffer will the ride get if i do the rear tsb replacement springs.Thanks for any info.

 

There is 1,000 topics on this. Do a little search and you will find more than enough info that you need. I learned a whooooooollllee lot of stuff researching the forum.

 

Do the tsb, to me i couldnt tell a difference in the ride...

 

I just had the rear tsb done on the 8th. I have the original shocks also. The ride is much better. I don't feel every little bump like I did pre-tsb. The truck is stiffer & much less body roll when cornering. I drive mine like I stole it, so it has helped with cornering. I haven't carried any heavy loads since the tsb. The back is about 2" higher than it was when stock.

 

My question is why are guys with 2011 tacomas needing a tsb spring? Should they already put that on standard now?

 

That would make to much sense wouldnt it . But my personal opinion is most people that buy trucks now are used to having a soft comfy ride in cars suvs etc. so they expect it to carry over to a truck. Now people that buy a truck and use it like a truck need the tsb (IMO). Thats why i got (that and a little free lift didnt hurt ).

 

Toyota does it for several reasons. It saves the company money is probably the number one reason. Most people never haul heavy loads & would not need it. When I had my tsb done, the service writer told me the parts were $1800. Paid for by Toyota.

Toyota did make a change for 2011. With the tsb they do not change the shocks, like they did in previous years. The trucks have the updated shocks.

If the ride is perfect, why are you contemplating the TSB? The TSB was created to fix a problem that it sounds like you're not having.

 

Where's KPT? He has that setup and would tell you how he likes it

 

The reason I'm contemplating is I'm worried about towing watercraft or boat if its going to bottom out.Also I would like to see how much it will lift the rear I don't want to have much of a rake look.

 

That's kinda my point, if it bottoms out, then get the TSB. If your stock pack handles the weight and you like the ride when it's unloaded, why change it? Not trying to give you a hard time, just very much an advocate of if it ain't broke, don't fix it

To answer your original question though, the ride is definitely stiffer. The truck doesn't roll as much in corners and handles weight much better.

 

Boats have zero effect on sag. The tongue weight is minimal. Hook up a boat &I you won't see any dip. I tow an 18' Ranger bass & had zero sag issues on my 2005 & 2011 non TSB tacomas.

The TSB is only needed if you carry or plan to carry heavy loads.

I had the TSB done, because I plan to carry sod & stacked stone next year for my yard makeover.

For me the TSB eliminated feeling the small bumps in the road. The big bumps are more prevalent.
