I just shit the bed on this one. The bondo looks like shit. Cant tell from far away but up close it gets ugly.

If anyone else has shit the bed on this as well, how did you guys fix it? Im thinking of just ordering a grillcraft to hide the mess I made

Take your time with the fiberglass kit and the bondo. Dont let it get messy. Try to make it smooth as possible. It took me all day and still looks like crap. It was my first time using bondo and the fiberglass and it was harder than I thought. I got it on there but its just making it all blend in whats hard

Hard to tell from here. But up close it looks like crap. I hate looking at it. lol As you can see this Satoshi mod is getting under my skin...

Buzz sander ftw. I forgot mine in my abbreviated move and mine doesn't look perfect either. I used a sanding block and lets just say my hand got tired of sanding. You can always put 'extra' bondo on, just make sure you get enough hardener in it otherwise it won't sand worth a shit. Sand away! SAND SAND SAND :D

A tip for anyone doing the glass work... use masking tape and tape the inside of the holes where you plan on glassing. When it cures, the tape will peel right off revealing a perfect smooth inside lip. Make sure you rough sand and overlap on the back side though so the epoxy has something to hold onto.

Just keep sanding and applying more bondo where needed. It's a long tedious process for us amateurs, but take your time with it. When you get it close to where you think it shouldbe, spray on some filler primer, sand, respray, sand, etc. Filler primer willhelp fill in the minor imperfections. And for the finish coats, flat blackpaint hides imperfections MUCH better than gloss and clear coat.

there is a new mod write upo somewhere if i can find it. no need to used fiber glass or bondo. its much easier to do for people that have never worked bondo and fiberglass. ill try and find it.

Funny seeing this thread today, I spent a good part of my weekend on my 2nd Satoshi try :D. I was going to finish sanding tonight after work.

All my attempts have been using the insert pieces from the cut out section of the grill. Still tricky. I got the feeling there might be a third attempt.

Never done it but from reading I assume there are many sessions with rebondo and resand to get it smooth enought to accept paint.
