Need stiffer rear suspension. Stronger that my aal

    I currently have 885s with 1/2" spacer in the front and the aal's in the rear. I do alot of towing with my truck and with my kubota and my enclosed trailer it sags A LOT! i have it balanced the load very well but the tongue weight is still a bit much. started throwing the idea around of trading it in on a rock warrior tundra but I just paid mine off and dont want to have another 3-400 a month payment. I am looking at the dakar rear leafs but am curious as to how much they can handle. i dont want to waste my money if its going to sag as much as it does now. i did the lift about 18 months ago and already notice a difference on how much they sag w/o a load let alone with. any ideas?

    U can go with the dakars - they are pretty stiff. The All-pro expedition leafs are even more stiff and may suit you better though.

    New leaf pack is going to do better than 5 year old springs plus add a leaf.

    But all springs eventually sag.

    You could also look at installing air bags that you could air-up when towing and carrying heavy.

    I'm also running an AAL and tow my travel trailer a bit.

    I wonder how the Dakars and AP leafs compare. Any more info?

    From what I've heard, there's no comparison. I see AAL's as a temporary item (or something that will need to be replaced with time). The Dakars and Expo leaf packs are specifically designed to carry a load with a lifte vehicle.

    Wait for OZ, he should be here any second.

    I would recommend getting a set of new shocks for the rear (5100s), and either an Air Bag kit, or a set of TIMBRENs.

    I have OME shocks in the rear. I thought about getting bags, but I offroad also, and would rather not go that route.

    Just wanted to see how the Dakars compared to the AP leafs, and if there were other leaf packs out there that were better.

    x2.... the AAL is just a bandaid on the problem... I got the dakars and they have been great. I got about 2.5 inches of lift in the back but I can now tow my boat w/ gear and 4 people and still not bottom out or sag. It has been the best investment on the truck so far.
