    i was just at the dealer this weekend to try and get my keys reprogrammed... they said...

    key = $55
    reprogram = $60
    remote = $110...

    If you really need a new set, i would buy the remote from ekeylessremotes.com i dont know about the key, because i got 2 keys from them and the dealer was not able to program the key..1st key was for 2009 tacoma, didnt work so i returned it and the company finally got a new batch for 2011 shipped out a 2011 key...dealer was still unable to program at... i think the 2011 key was for a diff car though... needless to say... i got the remote for a decent price, if you can find one cheaper on ebay, go for it... usually the dealer can do a quick reprogram for you for free...i usually took it in and requested during my 5k services...

    just realized your truck is 2009... get your stuff from ekeylessremotes.com you will probably be able to program it yourself.

    I think I read if you lose all the keys and it has an immoblizer the ECU has to be replaced. Hopefully it's just for a 2011.

    dealer can reset/clear the immoblizer and reprogram all your new keys... no need to replace unless its damaged or something.

    I bought my taco used and I only recieved one key. I have inquired at several stealerships to get a new set and this is what I have gathered. You should have gotten two diffent colored keys. They are grey and black. The black is the "master" key which you need to program any other key for your vehicle. The grey is the "valet" key. I only got the "valet" key when I bought my taco. In order for me to get a new set of keys I would have to buy a whole new set of "Master" and "Valet" keys as well as reflash the ECU. I have been quoted around $500-$600 for the job. One stealership even offered me a 10% discount. I have my truck for three years and I have not lost my one set yet (knock on wood).

    i had 2 black and 1 gray when i bought the truck... they all worked.. they all started the truck.

    lost a black.. tried to replace it, but the replaced key couldnt get programmed causing it to not start the engine.. i dont htink it was a 2011 tacoma key.

    hope you dont lose them either!

    I need a new Remote (lost mine) and a key. I'm sure it is a chipped key so if I order this stuff from ekeylessremotes.com shouldn't they know that? I have no idea what to order. When I look on Ebay i keep reading that some remotes have different FCCID numbers and i don't know which number relates to my truck. Any recommendations guys?

    You need one of your black keys to reprogram a new key, else according to my dealer service department they will have to replace the keyless entry ECU as well.

    I had a couple spares made awhile back, I seem to remember it coming out to $160 for two keys including programming. I still had a working key though. I asked what happens if you lose them all and was told that on a second gen tacoma they can go into the computer and "reseed" the key codes. It was going to be an hour labor if they had to do that.

    If I were you, even if you don't physically re key the truck, at least have them "reseed" the computer. That way if someone finds the lost key, they can get into the truck, but at least they won't be able to drive it away.

    The programming procedure for the remotes is in the owner's manual I believe. You can do that yourself. Dealer only has to do the key.

    I got a chipped key copied and programed from ACE hardware for $69. Check out the ones in your area, no way would I pay the dealership $110 plus the cost of the key.

    Good luck...

    Do the keys you had cut have microchips in them?
