Hey guys. this may have been answered before but i couldnt find it. I will be ordering the Bilstein 5100s pretty soon. I am going to use the 2.5 inch lift setting for the front struts and for the rear i am planning on getting blocks. My first question is, for a V6 how much lift do I acctually get? and my second question is, do I need to get longer bump stops? thanks

    Welcome to the site.

You should get right about 2.5 inches on the front...but it will depend on how worn out your coils are. Are they orginal? How many miles? Have they been replaced?

Bump stops for the front LCAs or do you mean for the leafs? IAt any rate, I don't think you want either, because they will just reduce the travel you just gained by doing the lift.

Are funds an issue? Blocks aren't a great way to go, and will just make your axle wrap worse. Have you considered an AAL?

I am assuming you want to basically level the truck after putting the Bilsteins on 2.5, right?

I have 130,00 on the truck (just got the truck last month) and all the shocks are originals... makes sense about those bump stops. I just wasnt sure if it would allow the shocks to compress to much. I have considered the ALL but the owner before me said he removed a leaf from each side (to make it right better apparently). Funds are an issue. With the bilsteins at 2.5 I was hoping to give the truck to 2 inchs of lift and be level. not sure if that is possible?

Yeah, those shocks are done, and your stock coils and leafs will be very tired, too. That's how mine was when I bought it at 100k, and it was terrible. You will notice a great ride improvement just replacing the shocks, but springs are in your future, my friend.

So the rear is stock leafs with a leaf removed? Or he had an AAL and removed it? this is a little confusing, but if you can post a pic of the leafs, it would clear things up. Also, you can look in my photo gallery at my stock leafs before my lift. 3 upper leaves, and one overload leaf is stock, and they tend to flatten out.

The nice thing about the 5100s is they are made for leveling with the stock coils, and the factory rake is about 1 inch, so if that is all you want to do, you could put the Bilsteins on the middle setting, which is approximately 1.25 inches.

Yes, new springs are in my future hahaha. just looked at my leaf springs. I have 2 leafs plus an over load leaf. I plan to do an all over 2 inch lift.

    Oh duh, it says that.

Yeah, then that is fucked up, dude. I imagine your ride is horrible, and likely unsafe back there. I know funds might be tight, but you should fix this ASAP.

Photos: Look at the top of the web page where it says HOME. Two to the right is Photos. Click on that menu and follow instructions.
