Sway-away VS. Icon

any one have a prefrence on performance?? whats batter for a mid travel lift...

 

i would think performance wise they would be the same since they are set up to utilize the same kit. just depends on looks and price i guess. but i see alot more people go with the icons

icon's specialty is bolt in, OE replacement shocks and coilovers...

SAW is commonly refered to as rust-a-way and stay-a-way...

just throwing that out thur...

that was with the older model SAWs .... and they even offered replacment on parts that rusted if im not mistaken. i have SAW on my mini and they havent rusted and held up good. another pro for me was that they are local( they were also the only option when i got my kit)

not for the 2nd gen minis and the TC kit lists SAW and Icon part numbers that wrk with the kit . Same with the LT kits its only SAW or Fox. idk if they didnt try kings or what

 

King makes shocks that are not listed. They will make whatever you want. The shocks I have are not listed anywhere. They are complete custom length built specific for the application

 

this is good to know ......... i wanna run kings but TC never said it was an option beside the rear kit

 

ok thanks for the help guys now second question. im currently running a spacer in front and no aal with bilistine rear shocks from a 4x4. should i buy the whole icon kit with aal upper control arm and rear & front shocks?? or just buy icon shocks with tc control arm and a aal??

 

basicly are the icon rear shocks any good?? or should i just stay with the bilistine..

 

only the new 2.5" icon rear shocks... the 2.0 design is the old donahoe racing shock which was a rebadged edelbrock shock... def not worth the $400 price tag

 

this depends what are you looking for?

personally i would not go with the AAL. unless you go with the 3 leaf AAL, and still i wouldnt, nut up, get the whole leaf pack. your ride will be MUCH better.

then personally in the front i would add some spider trax spacers

your options for a 5 lug a VERY limited... this is about the best you can go with out going long travel. it's a great set up, i've seen a dude hauls ass with this kit

King is pretty local if you're in socal. They will build anything you want.

 

"anything" can get expensive quick...

 

My shocks were the same cost as any other 8" coilover they make. They have to make them form scratch anyway so they dont charge extra just because you change dimensions a little. With DSM's discount they were actually less than any other manufactures shock and mine are complete custom valving and dimensions. King is well... King for a reason
