Tacoma Tundra Third member swap?

    I Have a 2008 Base model access cab Tacoma. I put 29" toll tires and looking to regear the dif. I'm short on money and my Dad have a Toyota Tundra 2003 2WD rear Diff at his home will the Third member can be swap into my Tacoma? My Tacoma is 3.31 and The Tundra is ether 3.9 or 4.0

    let me know what you think of this?

    i would call a shop that specializes in diffs and ask them. im sure most people wouldnt know but im not positive.

    i think you would need to find out the size of the tundra's differential. i think that reagearing is too confusing so hopefully someone else will see this who knows more about regearing

    That is good to know

    I went to my dad place and did the turn one side to see how many turns the third member does and it did litter over 2 Now I'm confuse the tundras supose to be 3.9 or 4.0

    No they're not. The axles are longer on the Tundra.

    Thats correct!

    If the 3rd member from tundra is 8.4" it should fit.

    Is your truck a 4wd/prerunner or a 5lug? I think the 5lug has a 7.5 rear axle

    Doesn't a 5 lug have a 27 spline count versus the 6 lugs 30 spline count? I'm having a helluva time finding that.

    From what I researched the 5lug carrier is different then 6lug carrier so 4.10 gears from 6lug wont fit 5lug without changing the carrier...
