For those with KMC Enduro Wheels......

I just installed KMC Enduro wheels for my 5 lugger Tacoma today. Pictures will be posted soon. They came with Acorn style lug nuts from Tire Rack, and the mechanic had a tough time putting them on. He kept hitting the inside of the area where the lug nut was installed. They scratched up rim by the area of the lug nut, but it is not a big deal as the lug nut now covers it up. He said that to get them off I now need to buy a Breaker bar with a thin wall socket, or the lugs will not come off. A solution was to use tuner lug nuts, but I stayed with the acorn lug nuts. For the people with the KMC Enduro wheels, what did you do? Is there another size lug nut (perhaps longer) that will work better?

On a side note, I went with a 15X7 rim, and to be safe a 235/75/15 tire, and the tires still rub the fender when I turned the wheels. I needed to cut the fender and remove the black box and it seems to be ok, I just have not tested it with a really tight turn yet. Do any one else have this issue? I thought I only needed complete the black box mod if I went with a 30X9.5X15.

So does anyone have a solution for this? it is true - the thin walled socket is very tight getting on the lugs and if there are any dings on the lug the socket will not slip on.

Guys,my advice fwiw is stay away from any spline nut thats is FEMALE. Because they are very thin walled and youre torqueing them from the inside,they like to split or crack. If youre VERY lucky,you can get the nut out. More often,the nut splits and is jammed up in the tiny space it occupies...bad for business. Best case scenario there is you destroy a rim or one lug itself. Easy to remember,and good advice for life....FEMALE BAD,MALE GOOD

 

Murphy-should I get the 16x8 enduros for my 2006 5lug or 15x7?

 

I used standard acorn lugs and got a normal torque ratchet and losten or tighten them that way. I just use a standard deep socket.

 

Did not have this problem.I used white knight splined acorn nuts that come with their own socket.Worked and look perfectly.
